Number of games this week:
4 games: Anaheim Ducks, Buffalo Sabres, Calgary Flames, Carolina Hurricanes, Colorado Avalanche, Montreal Canadiens, New York Islanders, Tampa Bay Lightning, Winnipeg Jets
3 games: Arizona Coyotes, Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings, Edmonton Oilers, Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators, New Jersey Devils, Ottawa Senators, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, San Jose Sharks, St. Louis Blues, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, Washington Capitals
2 games: Los Angeles Kings
1 game: New York Rangers
Favorable Offensive Matchups:
NY Rangers: Caution - they only play one game this week so don't put any Rangers in for weekly locking leagues. Their one game is against Toronto who is averaging 3.4 goals allowed per game.
Detroit Red Wings: Carolina and Ottawa at home (both allowed 17 goals so far this year) and then Ottawa on the road.
Florida Panthers: They are off to a good start this year and the top line of Jonathan Huberdeau, Aleksander Barkov and Jaromir Jagr is playing very well. All three games are at home and the first two in the week Colorado and Boston are allowing a lot of goals.
Unfavorable Offensive Matchups:
Anaheim Ducks - It just doesn't get easier for the team who is already struggling on offense. Chicago, Dallas and St. Louis all on the road and all allowing an average of fewer than 2.5 goals against per game.
Buffalo Sabres - 3 games on the road against teams who are at 2.5 goals against per game or less. Oh and the game at home is ALSO against a team who has allowed fewer than 2.5 goals per game.
Toronto Maple Leafs - All three games against strong goaltending early on: Mike Smith, Henrik Lundqvist and Marc-Andre Fleury.
Favorable Defensive Matchups:
New York Islanders: Calgary, Carolina, New Jersey and Buffalo. None of them is averaging over 2.2 goals for per game.
Buffalo Sabres (POTENTIAL TRAP WEEK): Rough Offensive matchup but favorable defensive matchup for them. This could be a trap though, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh are historically offensive threats and have been lackluster on offense so far this season.
Winnipeg Jets: Los Angeles, Chicago and Columbus are getting opportunities through Power Plays and Shots but none of them can score thus far this season.
Unfavorable Defensive Matchups:
Florida Panthers: Colorado, Boston and Washington are all scoring at least 3.2 goals on average per game.
Los Angeles Kings: two games this week but Winnipeg and Nashville have had no trouble finding the back of the net this season.
New York Rangers: Mike Babcock is having the Maple Leafs do what the Red Wings did - pepper shots on net. Lundqvist will see his fair share this week in their one matchup.
