Week 7 QB Rankings

Deciding between two quarterbacks? Need a streamer? Jacob Adler examines this week's matchups.

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

Last week's streamers turned out pretty well, as you can see below. This week, quarterback is a wasteland. After Matthew Stafford, whom I have ranked 13th, I'm not comfortable starting any of those guys in fantasy football. Anyway, let's keep going.

Joe Flacco vs. San Francisco 49ers

Week 6 Finish: 16

While Flacco was the worst-performing recommendation in this space last week, he still threw for 343 yards and two touchdowns. That's a success.

Colin Kaepernick vs. Baltimore Ravens

Week 6 Finish: 7

Kap accrued 340 passing yards and two touchdowns on only 27 attempts. That's efficiency, and a really bad Baltimore pass defense.

Jay Cutler vs. Detroit Lions

Week 6 Finish: 13

Cutler got a stat boost from the game going into overtime, but he was still useful against a weak Detroit pass defense.

Blake Bortles vs. Houston Texans

Week 6 Finish: 6

Bortles was by no means great, as he threw three picks and completed only 30 of 53 passes. But he surpassed 300 yards and also had three touchdowns.

Brian Hoyer vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Week 6 Finish: 5

Hoyer was great, throwing three scores without a single interception. He just missed 300 yards for leagues that play with bonuses, but it was a great performance nonetheless.

Now onto this week's streamers.

Week 7 Streamers

Ryan Tannehill vs. Houston Texans

Is Ryan Tannehill back? I'm not sure, but if his offensive line is functional he should be in for a solid game against Houston. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Derek Carr vs. San Diego Chargers

Only Teddy Bridgewater has failed to throw for a touchdown against San Diego. Derek Carr has been a more useful fantasy quarterback than Bridgewater this year. Since Oakland's offense is relatively weak, I don't think San Diego will try to dominate the time-of-possession game as it often does against the league's best offenses. Carr should have sufficient opportunity to put up numbers.

Brian Hoyer vs. Miami Dolphins

Hoyer has thrown for two or more touchdowns in his last three games, and it looks like he is getting more of a leash now that Bill O'Brien can't get away with saying Ryan Mallett is better. He has appeal if he just showers DeAndre Hopkins and Arian Foster with targets.

Ryan Fitzpatrick vs. New England Patriots

New England has allowed generous fantasy days to all the quarterbacks it has faced except Brandon Weeden, and Fitzpatrick is better than Weeden. My biggest concern here is that the Jets try to control the clock through the run game, and Fitzpatrick wouldn't get the opportunity to throw unless the Jets then went down big.

Matthew Stafford vs. Minnesota Vikings

Finally, Matthew Stafford looks like he knows what he's doing. After a 405-yard, four-touchdown performance against Chicago, I'm giving him another chance. As a plus, his only other decent game this year was versus Minnesota, when he threw for 286 yards and two touchdowns.
