The end of the 2015 fantasy baseball season has arrived, and we hope we were able to help you win your leagues this season, or at least finish in the money. If not, we hope our baseball and prospect coverage helped you begin your rebuild to win your leagues in 2016.
Our prospect team just completed publishing their Top 10 Fantasy Prospects for all American League East teams last week and have begun publishing their AL Central Top 10s this week They will continue to release their top 10 fantasy prospects for each team in the weeks and months ahead.
Beginning sometime in January, we will begin to publish our 2016 consensus position rankings, but before that, I will review our 2015 consensus position rankings, continuing with the shortstop position today. In addition to reviewing our preseason position rankings, I will address the impact of many of the offseason free agent signings and trades, and publish some player profiles along the way as well.
With all that said, let's take a look at how our preseason top 30 shortstops performed in 2015, along with some thoughts on a few of the players, including a few shortstops that out-performed our rankings in 2015.

Carlos Correa, Astros
I ranked Correa as my #1 fantasy shortstop for 2016 in my early shortstop rankings and I don't see that changing. Correa finished the season .279 with 22 home runs, 52 runs scored, 68 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 432 plate appearances, so unless he struggles mightily next season, he has the potential to put up a 30 home run, 20 stolen base season. He should be a first round pick next season.
Corey Seager, Dodgers
The Dodgers turned over their starting shortstop role to Seager after Jimmy Rollins got hurt and never looked back, even starting him in four of their five NLDS games vs the Mets. Seager hit well in his September cup of coffee, hitting .337-.425-.561 with 4 home runs, 17 runs scored and 17 RBI in just 113 plate appearances. He could challenge Correa as the top fantasy shortstop as soon as 2017.
Francisco Lindor, Indians
Lindor put up the second highest fWAR among all shortstops in just 99 games this season. He showed off surprising power, hitting .313-.353-.482 with 12 home runs, 50 runs scored, 51 RBI and stealing 12 bases as well. The question many fantasy owners will have to ask is whether the power is for real or just an aberration. Don't get me wrong, he has talent, but the power was unexpected. He very well could be one of the top 5-6 shortstops off draft boards in March.
Troy Tulowitzki, Blue Jays
Here is what I wrote about Tulo in my early 2016 Shortstop Rankings:
I think that Tulo either was feeling the effects of his hip surgery last season or this could be the new Tulo, which will hurt his ranking heading into the 2016 season. Much will be written about him this offseason, as this could either be just a down year for him, it happens, or the beginning of his decline years. I tend to think it is the former and not the latter, so I ranked him as my #2 fantasy shortstop behind the new #1, Correa.
I may change my ranking on Tulo later in the offseason, but as of now he is my #2 fantasy shortstop for next season, as he has too much talent to be ranked lower.
