Fantasy Hockey Week 2 Forecaster

Favorable schedules, player selections and waiver wire pickups. 10/19/2015 - 10/25/2015.

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

Rankings are based on the following:

Goals Against - a low ranking means they let in lots of goals (Edmonton let in the most goals last year, they are ranked #1.

Goals for - the lower the ranking the more the team scores (Tampa Bay scored the most goals last year and is the number 1 ranking).

So you want to face a team with a low GA and a high GF. This is based off last weeks goals for and against, it will be updated as the season progresses to be a larger aggregate of this year.

Total Games:

4 Games - Rangers
3 Games - Coyotes, Sabres, Flames, Hurricanes, Blue Jackets, Stars, Red Wings, Oilers, Panthers, Kings, Wild, Canadiens, Islanders, Predators, Devils, Flyers, Penguins, Sharks, Lightning and Capitals
2 Games - Ducks, Bruins, Blackhawks, Avalanche, Senators, Blues, Maple Leafs, Canucks and Jets.

Highlights:

Favorable Offensive matchups:
San Jose faces a porous Ranger, Kings and Hurricane lineups. The latter two are at home.
Colorado has only two matchups but they are against a Hurricane and Blue Jacket lineups that are struggling defensively.
Boston plays the Flyers and Islanders who have had some bad starts letting in their share of goals.

Unfavorable offensive matchups:
Despite the Rangers having 4 games they have some difficult ones. The Sharks are boasting Matt Jones great play as are the Coyotes behind Mike Smith.
Pittsburgh will play a Panther team who is back checking hard as are the Predators who are playing great two way hockey in addition to Pekka Rinne's great play.

Favorable Defensive Matchups:
Good news for Rangers defense, while they face a tough defense, the offenses are weak: Arizona, Philadelphia and Calgary are all in the lower half of offensive teams.
Dallas will face Flyers and Penguins squads who have been slow to start on the offensive side.

Unfavorable Defensive Matchups:
Chicago will have to hold strong on defense against Tampa Bay and Florida who are in the top 7 in offenses.
Winnipeg will take their top offense into the 2nd best offense in Tampa Bay right now as well as the Wild who rank in the top half of the league.

5 Players I like to excel this week:

Jakub Voracek - the Flyers have a favorable offense schedule, there should be some chances for him to get going.
Max Domi - He has followed through on his potential with 2 goals and 2 assists in 3 games. Arizona has a favorable schedule this week.
Jack Eichel - A bunch of the rookies are off to hot starts and I will be following that until teams adjust to their playing styles. Buffalos three games are all home.
Henrik Lundqvist - 4 games 3 of which are at home in one of the most favorable defensive weeks amongst teams.
Dylan Larkin - While he's on the top line, PUT HIM IN.

3 Weekly Pickups

Cam Talbot (59% owned) faces three home matchups against Detroit,  Washington and Los Angeles the latter two who are anemic on offense right now.
Nikolaj Ehlers (19% owned) is on a red hot line right now. If you have a free spot to use for him he's riding high for the time being in points, SOG, and plus minus.
Nazem Kadri (21 % owned) is off to a slow start. You can lock in a top line center who is playing into his coaches style and laying on a ton of shots that will start to go in soon.
