Alright e-ballers,
As part of Fake Teams' extensive basketball coverage, I am including an outline of the relevant dates/content for your research purposes. After the piles of research I throw your way for your Fantasy Basketball drafts, look for intellectually complex nuggets from yours truly down the line...
As my bio indicates, I once played in over 100 Fantasy leagues simultaneously. I'm not gonna lie: That was just stupid. It was extremely helpful too though. I've played in (and won) basically every format: H2H, H2H-1 win, Points, Roto (my least favourite), Salary Cap, dynasty, keeper, 1-year, etc. I have lots of experience in all 4 major North American sports, but Fantasy Basketball has always been my first love...
The truth is that no one source of information will perfectly suit your needs. An 8-team keeper for roto is going to have a completely different set of expectations/needs than a 12-team, 1-year H2H league or a 20-team, salary cap dynasty. I will generally write my articles for 12-team H2H leagues in the Yahoo model (as that has always been my provider of choice - although I have also played in ESPN, Fantrax, Fleaflicker, etc). There are certainly subtle differences between platforms (and the software definitely shapes your perception of the Cyber Hoops game), but I've always preferred Yahoo - so that is the vernacular I will usually refer to...
We've got a pretty tight schedule here at Fake Teams (indicated below for your convenience), but future articles I'm going to write include the peculiarities of Fantasy Basketball that differentiate it from the other Fantasy Sports: Unique punting strategies, identifying players with an eclectic combination of stats, philosophical musings about the nature of advanced basketball stats (and their alleged relevance to the standard Yahoo game), etc.
It's gonna be a good season, fellas. Again, the schedule with all the Draft 101 items (position rankings, rookie profiles, etc) is very clearly defined, but don't be surprised if I randomly throw in a few unique POVs. Basketball is the most mathematically complex of the Fantasy Sports - due to misguided confusions of causation and correlation. But that is a subject for another time. For now, enjoy the Fake Teams' Draft Kit Preview, and please indicate in the Comments section if there is certain information you'd like me to explore for you...
