Fantasy Football Week 2 DEF/ST Rankings

Streaming defenses or see a good one on waivers? Jacob Adler goes through the best and worst matchups this week.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

As it turns out, Week 2 is not the best week for streaming defenses. A middling Washington D/ST is the top streamer, against Jacksonville, and the Houston D/ST should be able to score fantasy points off rookie QB Derek Carr and Oakland. Most of the other teams in the top 10 were drafted and are likely still rostered. The rankings are below, and stay tuned for commentary after.

Three Matchups to Stream

Washington Redskins vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

With Toby Gerhart hampered by an ankle injury, the Redskins could have an even better fantasy day than expected. The secondary probably won't be able to handle all of the Jaguars' young receivers, so expect heavy blitzing and decent sack totals.

Houston Texans at Oakland Raiders

Try to not get carried away with the Texans' Week 1 point total, which was more a product of the Redskins' incompetence than anything else, but we could see a repeat in the very next week. I expect the absence of Jadeveon Clowney to be overblown.

Tennessee Titans vs. Dallas Cowboys

This is a riskier streaming pick since the Cowboys always get their yards. However, after a strong showing against the Chiefs in Week 1, the Titans should be able to force a few turnovers and be worth the lineup spot.

Three Matchups to Avoid

Cleveland Browns vs. New Orleans Saints

Don't start a defense against Drew Brees, doe.

Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins didn't make a seamless transition to the new offensive scheme, but they still put up 33 points on New England with mediocre personnel. This is a wait-and-see week for me.

Seattle Seahawks at San Diego Chargers

You have been warned, Seattle owners. San Diego has one of the best offenses in the league, and Seattle can't always be a top play.
