Well it didn't take Calvin Johnson long to show us who the best wide receiver in the game is. He scored two touchdowns in the first quarter vs the Giants on Monday Night Football, silencing those calling for him to be dethroned as the #1 wide receiver in 2014. He finished with 7 catches for 164 yards and the two scores. This week he faces the Carolina Panthers on the road, so he should have a tougher time getting into the end zone this week.
Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas has an enticing matchup vs the injury-riddled Chiefs defense that couldn't stop Jake Locker and the Titans last week. I look for Thomas to reach the 100 yard mark and score at least once in a game that could be a shootout on Sunday afternoon.
Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant had a tough matchup in Week 1 vs the 49ers defense, but this week he has an easier task facing the Titans. I see Bryant having a big game on Sunday, and improving on his 4 receptions for 55 yards last week.
The Chiefs offense struggled in Week 1 vs the Titans, playing without WR Dwayne Bowe and Jamaal Charles. Oh, Charles played? Oh, you could have fooled me. I see Bowe being QB Alex Smith's top target on Sunday in a game that could be a shootout. He scored one touchdown in his two games vs Denver last season, but I see the Chiefs resorting to throwing the ball and playing from behind most of the game.
Several top ranked receivers will be looking to bounce back in Week 2 after a disappointing Week 1 including Vincent Jackson, Victor Cruz, Michael Crabtree, Larry Fitzgerald and Keenan Allen. The worst thing fantasy owners can do after one week is to panic and deal or drop one of these guys. The season is long and all you need is one 100+ yard and two score game to be back in the good graces of a fantasy owner. Don't be the guy who panics and drops one of these receivers, and good luck in Week 2.
