My sincerest apologies for posting this piece so late - but better late than never. Tonight we every team in action which is nice, but game selection is the key to success. Today I put together a list of players who you should target in your cash games or GPP's. With this being the last article of the week, I'd like to wish you all good luck and a great weekend - I hope you guys are ready for NFL next week.
All players pricing based on FanDuel prices.
SP - Jacob deGrom, New York Mets, $8,200 - There are so many great pitching options tonight that it was really difficult to make a decision. I think deGrom makes an excellent GPP play based on price and potential. deGrom is at home tonight to take on the Phillies, a team who he doesn't have much history against but should benefit from their lack of plate discipline.
C - Miguel Montero, Arizona Diamondbacks, $2,600 - Montero should be a popular play at home against the Rockies RHP Christian Bergman. I would prefer to slot Montero in cash games since I expect very high ownership.
1B- Jose Abreu, Chicago White Sox, $4,100 - Abreu is often overlooked in DFS, I am not sure if the average player is just oblivious to him or they rather pay $4,500 for a 45 year old David Ortiz? With that being said Abreu has .405 wOBA versus RHP, and with the way Verlander has struggled this season I expect him to take advantage of the situation.
2B - Neil Walker, Pittsburgh Pirates, $3,400 - I am not a big fan of the second base options tonight, so I am going to suggest going with a BVP play. Walker has .314 avg, with 11 RBIs against Mike Leake in his career.
3B - Adrian Beltre, Texas Rangers, $3,200 - The Rangers are brutal, and Beltre is probably the only bat I would ever consider playing in a cash game, unless I needed to punt a position. Based on his matchup with Oberholtzer, Beltre makes a great cash game play, and I would even consider him in some GPP's.
SS - Starlin Castro, Chicago Cubs, $2,900 - If you thought that second base was thin tonight, wait until you see shortstop. I can't justify paying for Jose Reyes, so I decided to go with Castro who should be batting cleanup against Shelby Miller.
OF - Jose Bautista, Toronto Blue Jays, $3,800 - Bautista will probably be the most used outfielder in cash games tonight, he is starting to heat up again. With home runs in his last two games, and success historically against Capuano - Bautista should be on everyone's radar.
OF - Carlos Beltran, New York Yankees, $3,300 - Beltran has been seeing the ball really well as of late, and a trip to Toronto could make his price skyrocket. With Beltran getting hot, and Mark Buerhle getting cold - this could be a long night for the blue birds in the great white north.
As always please check lineups and weather conditions before rosters lock, nothing is worse than having inactive players on a daily fantasy roster.
Come join me and other FakeTeam writers along with the whole SB Nation in some DFS fun, turn $2 in to $1200.
