The week has come to an end, and we get one of the toughest slates I've seen in a long time. There is a plethora of great pitchers starting tonight, and this made picking just one very difficult. On the flipside there is also a lot of exposable matchups tonight, and I tried to target as many mismatches as I could. Lastly I tried to avoid Coors Field today as much as i could since you guys are already Coors experts by now. I hope you guys enjoy your weekend, and this post.
All Players Prices Are Based On FanDuel Pricing
SP - Zack Wheeler, New York Mets, $7,600 - There are way too many pitchers I like today, so I decided to give you a value pick. Wheeler takes the mound out at home against a stumbling Cubs team, who just struck out 14 times in six innings against Mike Fiers. Wheeler has gotten better has the season has gone along and this is a great spot for him.
C -Devin Mesoraco, Cincinnati Reds, $3,900 - This is probably going to be a popular pick tonight, and it's justified. I was really high on Mesoraco coming in to the season and he has paid off thus far. Tonight he draws a matchup against Franklin Morales, a replacement starter at best, and should be easily exposed.
1B - Miguel Cabrera, Detroit Tigers, $4,500 - Every time I take Miggy he under performs - something has got to give. Today he draws a favorable matchup against James Paxton, a pitcher I do like in the grand scheme of things, but the Tigers bats are too dangerous. Cabrera also has a .451 wOBA at home against LHP, which made my decision easier to swallow.
2B - Dee Gordon, Los Angeles Dodgers, $2,900 - I see a lot of value tonight in Gordon. His price has plummeted over the past few weeks, due to his performance of late. Gordon had a great game yesterday in Atlanta, and returning home to L.A against rookie pitcher Jimmy Nelson should be more than enough fuel to build momentum to.
3B - David Wright, New York Mets, $3,000 - Wright draws a favorable matchup against Travis Wood tonight. Wright has an impressive .386 wOBA against LHP at home, and soft tossing Wood should be at a disadvantage tonight against Wright.
SS - Erick Aybar, Los Angeles Angels $2,400 - Aybar has a high ceiling today given the fact that he hits RHP better, and is usually is slotted sixth in the batting order. I assume Angels will be owned at a high clip tonight, since Nick Martinez is an easy target to pick on. Take Aybar and enjoy the cap relief he gives you.
OF - Yoenis Cespedes, Boston Red Sox, $4,000 - Cespedes is familiar with his opposing pitcher tonight since they played in the same division together for the last three years. Although I somewhat believe in Keuchel, I still think Cespedes reigns supreme in this matchup.
OF - Christian Yelich, Miami Marlins, $3,500 - Is "because Trevor Cahill" not enough reason to take Yelich? Yes Cahill has pitched better since rejoining the rotation, but I don't really buy it. I expect Yelich to have a great game today to make up for the bad one he had against Masterson. Karma is great.
OF - Josh Hamilton, Los Angeles Angels, $3,000 - This is my "revenge" play of the day. Hamilton returns to Texas to take on a pitcher who struggles against LHB. More than enough reason for me to make this play.
As always please check lineups and weather conditions before rosters lock, nothing is worse than having inactive players on a daily fantasy roster.
