Welcome to split slate Wednesday. I will be focusing on the evening games tonight, since there are only four games in the afternoon. There are a lot of good matchups today for hitters, which means good pitching is scarce. Thankfully FanDuel uses a one pitcher format which is less of a burden. Let's keep the intro short today and dive right in to today's recommendations.
All Players Prices Are Based On FanDuel Pricing
SP - Chris Archer, Tampa Bay Rays, $8,100 - Archer is my favorite pitcher of the day. You could make arguments for some of the other pitchers today, but as far as ceiling goes Archer has the most upside. The Rangers are atrocious against RHP, and their starting pitcher is prone to giving up runs.
C - Evan Gattis, Atlanta Braves, $2,900 - Gattis is a true lefty crusher. He hasn't been the same since his return from the disabled list, and his matchup against Ryu isn't exactly ideal, Gattis makes an excellent contrarian play for tournaments.
1B - Chris Davis, Baltimore Orioles, $3,200 - I am not entirely sure if Pineda or Green are starting today, regardless Davis should be fine against either one. Davis is starting to look like the player he was last year and FanDuel has yet to adjust his price.
2B - Robinson Cano, Seattle Mariners, $4,000 - Cano is going to dong today. RA Dickey takes the mound for the Blue Jays in SafeCo today, and the lefty heavy Mariners should do well against him. I wouldn't go as far as stacking them, but Cano is definitely a high upside play today.
3B - Josh Donaldson, Oakland Athletics, $4,100 - Donaldson will look to extend his recent success against LHP Jason Vargas. I like this matchup for Donaldson a lot since he kills LHP, and has been swinging a decent bat as of late. He is coming off a double dong night. I don't expect a repeat performance from last night, but Donaldson is known to hit dongs in bunches.
SS - Jean Segura, Milwaukee Brewers, $2,200 - Pretty could spot for Segura against LHP Wada. Segura is priced at minimum salary and has a high ceiling based on his hitting ability and speed.
OF - Jacoby Ellsbury, New York Yankees, $4,000 - Ellsbury draws a good matchup against Chris Tillman tonight. I am not sure which Tillman shows up, but regardless Ellsbury should still be useful tonight.
OF - Christian Yelich, Miami Marlins, $3,500 - I would prefer Stanton here to be honest, but due to salary cap reasons Yelich is a great consolation prize. Masterson is awful, his struggles have crossed over to the national league, and he can't be trusted plain and simple.
OF - Khris Davis, Milwaukee Brewers, $3,000 - The irony of having both Khris and Chris Davis in your lineup today in favorable matchups is more than enough reason to roster Davis tonight.
As always please check lineups and weather conditions before rosters lock, nothing is worse than having inactive players on a daily fantasy roster.
