I hope everyone had a great weekend and is ready to get back to grinding. Today we have a pretty big slate for a Monday with 10 games on schedule. There are a lot of matchups I like tonight, so I did my best trying to exploit the biggest mismatches. Hopefully we don't get another 19 inning game since I would like to get to bed before my article is due. Hopefully today's recommendations will help you guys win some cash, you need to start saving for the NFL season, where our sponsors at FanDuel have some huge tournaments coming up. Enjoy your Monday folks.
All Players Prices Are Based On FanDuel Pricing
SP - Jesse Hahn, San Diego Padres, $7,100 - I know Felix is pitching but his price would be 1/3 of our budget, Sonny Gray faces a hot Royals team on the road, and Teheran takes on the Dodgers who are never fun to play against. Hahn provides the best value tonight. He faces a depleted Rockies team, who struggles to hit on the road. The Padres are the second biggest favorite tonight line wise, and the game has the lowest total.
C - John Jaso, Oakland Athletics, $2,700 - Not an easy assignment for Jaso tonight against the Royals young flamethrower Yordano Ventura, but he is known to be a bit wild, and Jaso is a very patient hitter. With Jaso's price being very reasonable it allows us to spend on other positions that provide higher ceiling players.
1B - Freddie Freeman, Atlanta Braves, $3,800 - I don't often recommend Freeman, which is sad since he is one of my favorite first basemen. Tonight he gets a gift from the Dodgers - the very hittable Kevin Correia. Freeman is a great hitter regardless with a .377 home wOBA versus RHP, where Correia is a .348 wOBA away versus LHB.
2B - Jose Altuve, Houston Astros, $3,700 - You are going to see a continue trend throughout this article - a lot of exposed splits. Altuve has the highest average versus LHP in baseball, and the Twins are starting Tommy Milone. Altuve should have the upper hand in this match up, and I expect the Astros to draw blood quick.
3B - Adrian Beltre, Texas Rangers, $3,400 - This isn't as bad of a match up since Drew Smyly actually has potential, but Beltre is a known lefty crusher. This is the second time in a row I am recommending him, so hopefully returns a better return on investment tonight.
SS - Danny Santana, Minnesota Twins, $3,600 - This guy has really been overlooked DFS wise, he continues to produce at a high level and should have a great game tonight against Brad Peacock. If you aren't familiar with Santana I'd advise you to look him up, he could be very useful if available in keeper/dynasty formats.
OF - Carlos Gomez, Milwaukee Brewers, $4,200 - Gomez has been mashing all weekend, and will look to continue his recent momentum against the false prophet Jake Arietta. Gomez contributes in many ways, but can also burn you with a 0-4 game with 4 strikeouts. Let's hope for the former.
OF - Christian Yelich, Miami Marlins, $3,400 - Another player who can contribute in many ways like Gomez is Yelich. He draws a good matchup against Shelby Miller who has been struggling all season. Yelich just had a monster series against the Reds, lets hope he can carry the momentum in to tonight's game.
OF - Rajai Davis, Detroit Tigers, $3,100 - I assume Rajai will be in the lineup today even though this is an interleague matchup against the Pirates. Other than Victor Martinez, Rajai has the highest wOBA against LHP on the Tigers. Today's matchup against Jeff Locke should go Davis' way since Locke has been known to have walk issues in the past. Davis is a patient hitter and should get on base multiple times, with the chance to steal and score runs.
As always please check lineups and weather conditions before rosters lock, nothing is worse than having inactive players on a daily fantasy roster.
