I am not going to give a long intro today, I know everyone is excited for the long weekend, and I hope everyone has a great 4th of July. I am not entirely sure if I will be writing an article for tomorrow, it will be based on how FanDuel splits their card. Be safe, and enjoy today's picks.
All players' prices based on FanDuel values.
SP - Max Scherzer, Detroit Tigers, $10,300 - Scherzer has been on and off all season. Some nights he looks like the 2013 version of himself, some nights he looks like Phil Hughes of 2013. Tonight he has a favorable matchup, against the Rays, who aren't a big offensive threat, but have been hitting decently as of late.
C - Chris Iannetta, Los Angeles Angels, $2,900 - Iannetta is a great pick for tonight. He crushes left handed pitching, and is a good hitters park in Houston. I expect a lot of players to stock up on both LA teams tonight.
1B - Brandon Moss, Oakland Athletics, $3,700 - Moss heads back home to face R.A. Dickey. Moss is in a good hitter in any park , and if Dickey screws up one of his knuckle balls its basically a batting practice pitch that Moss will launch in to the stands. Lots of great 1B options tonight, but Moss is my guy tonight.
2B - Neil Walker, Pittsburgh Pirates, $2,600 - I like this matchup for Walker against Brandon McCarthy who is coming off a great outing in San Diego, which doesn't impress me much. Walker should be batting in the heart of the order and be in line for RBIs and runs.
3B - Juan Francisco, Toronto Blue Jays, $2,700 - Francisco is a straight up GPP play, he is cheap, but can have a double homer day, any day - as long as a right hander is pitching. Tonight Sonny Gray takes the mound for the A's, and like most young pitchers he will have ups and down - hopefully tonight it's the latter.
SS - Elvis Andrus, Texas Rangers, $2,300 - Pretty much a punt play, but its not everyday you get a supposed elite shortstop for almost rock bottom price. I like the value on this play, even if he goes 0-4 it's worth the risk.
OF - Yasiel Puig, Los Angeles Dodgers, $3,800 - Puig in Coors against Franklin Morales? At $3,800 ? Please don't make me write an explanation to why I am doing this.
OF - Gregory Polanco, Pittsburgh Pirates, $3,300 - Polanco bats lead off for the Pirates, with a power/speed combo. This guy is an absolute menace. He has so much upside especially against a right-hander like McCarthy.
OF - Matt Kemp, Los Angeles Dodgers, $3,200 - As mentioned with Puig - does this really need an explanation? Another value pick I can give is Scott Van Slyke, he is only $2,700, and crushes left handed pitching. Pick your poison.
As always be sure to check the weather in the city your players are playing in. Don't forget to check lineups either, nothing worse than having a rostered player on your squad that isn't in the lineup
