Well the Texas Rangers didn't come through for us last night. Their offense looked anemic, and it didn't end well for us. Luckily its DFS and you can build a new lineup the next day, and not worry about yesterday. Todays' lineup was a little difficult to build since there are a lot of good pitchers tonight, so I had to dig deep and find value.
All players' prices based on DraftKings values
SP 1 - Chris Tillman, Baltimore Orioles, $8,100 - Tillman has been pretty good this season strikeout wise, but he's had a problem going deep in to games - although he has two 8 inning outings. I like him tonight for his strikeout upside, and he's pitching on the road at Tropicana Field in Tampa, which is a better pitchers park than Camden Yards.
SP 2 - Cole Hamels, Philadelphia Phillies, $8,400 - I'm sure most DFS players will be taking Clayton Kershaw tonight, who is priced at over $12,000 - but we are going to go a different route. Hamels is an ace, no question about it, and when you get an ace priced this low, coming off a bad start you pounce on it. Tonight won't be easy against the Toronto Blue Jays, but I like his upside tonight.
C - Brayan Pena, Cincinnati Reds, $3,200 - Pena has been swinging the bat great since taking over catcher duties for Devin Mesoraco. He takes on Felix Doubront who is usually someone I like to pick on. I would consider a Reds stack tonight but their right handed hitters aren't anything special.
1B - Anthony Rizzo, Chicago Cubs, $4,900 - Rizzo the Savage as I like to call him on twitter is my favorite 1B today - and that is saying a lot. Hector Noesi takes the mound for the White Sox today, and I expect Rizzo to reap all the benefits from this lopsided matchup.
2B - Brandon Phillips, Cincinnati Reds, $4,000 - As mentioned with Pena, I like the matchup against Doubront. Phillips has price has been creeping up as of late, and he is producing fantasy points. Enjoy the price while you can.
3B - Jedd Gyorko, San Diego Padres, $3,200 - After a slow start in April Gyorko is finally starting to hit some jacks. This is a great matchup for him and the Padres against Jeremy Guthrie to break out offensively. Lets hope they are up to the task.
SS - Troy Tulowitzki, Colorado Rockies, $6,100 - I said I wouldn't pay the ridiculous price for Tulowitzki a couple nights ago, but he has proved me wrong - he is worth every penny. Tonight he gets Robbie Ross a mediocre lefty, so another big night could be upon us.
OF 1 - Drew Stubbs, Colorado Rockies, $3,500 - Stubbs is producing really well when he plays. I expect him to be in the lineup tonight, and his power/speed combo is very intriguing. If he isn't in the lineup I expect Brandon Barnes to be in tonight, who is also a viable option.
OF 2 - Christian Yelich, Miami Marlins, $4,000 - Yelich has been a great lead off hitter for the Marlins so far this season. We are finally starting to see his power with the couple of bombs he has hit over the last few games. Tonight he takes on Big Bartolo Colon, a pitcher who is a stud or dud on any given night. The Marlins are a very high scoring team at home though, so I think this could get ugly for Colon.
OF 3 - Evan Gattis, Atlanta Braves, $,4000 - I felt like our lineup needed some power so I decided to slot Gattis in the last outfield position. The Braves have been pretty bad as of late offensively but they can drop a 10 spot on you on any given night. Gattis will face Tyler Lyons tonight and I like the chances of a dinger tonight.
As always be sure to check the weather in the city your players are playing in. Don't forget to check lineups either, nothing worse than having a rostered player on your squad that isn't in the lineup.
