I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend. I know you aren't looking forward to getting back to work, so hopefully this article helps makes 15 minutes of your day a little more interesting during your coffee break. Today we have a jam-packed schedule, one that I am not really fond of - but hey when life gives you lemons, make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. There is a crap load of good pitchers pitching today, so hitting wise I avoided them - and no I don't consider Mark Buehrle to be good. You might think I am crazy for one of my pitching choices tonight, but we need to go pull the ball to the opposite field sometimes in this crazy DFS world.
All players' prices based on DraftKings values
SP 1 - Cole Hamels, Philadelphia Phillies, $8,600 - Hamels is starting to look like the ace he was. Today he takes on the Rockies, no easy task but they struggle on the road, and are scarier against LHP. If Kyle Kendrick can shut them out this should be a cinch.
SP 2 - Edinson Volquez, Pittsburgh Pirates, $5,800 - I told you would think I am crazy. But Volquez was decent in his last outing against Washington, and the Mets struggle against him historically, and aren't very good period. Take the guy who was once praised as "The next Pedro Martinez".
C - Jason Castro, Houston Astros, $3,900 - Castro feasts on RHP, and today he gets Jeremy Guthrie - who sucks. Castro is 4 for 10 against Guthrie with two homers - not bad, not bad at all.
1B - Paul Goldschmidt, Arizona Diamondbacks, $5,200 - The Golden Child has quietly had a great season - he really doesn't get enough shine. Today he gets to do bad things to Eric Stults a LHP who stinks on the road. I would stack Dbacks in tourney play.
2B - Martin Prado, Arizona Diamondbacks, $3,900 - See the Paul Goldschmidt write up. Prado has hit well against Stults in his career, and I expect a high scoring game tonight.
3B - Evan Longoria, Tampa Bay Rays, $4,500 - In my intro I said I don't think Buehrle is good, and I guess it was precursor to my pick here (and another one on my list). Longoria has hit .321 in his career against Buehrle with a homer and seven RBIs. PS I hate spelling that name.
SS - Everth Cabrera, San Diego Padres, $3,800 - Cabrera is starting to heat up, he does strike out a lot but if he gets on base he creates anarchy. I like this spot for him today since Wade Miley is on the mound for the Diamondbacks.
OF 1 - Desmond Jennings, Tampa Bay Rays, $3,900 - Another Tampa player who has done well against Buehrle. Jennings has been amazing at the Rogers Centre in his career (he homered yesterday as well), so this is a good option for us given the price. I think Jennings will bat at the top of the order tonight as well which will give him more at bats.
OF 2 - Alex Rios, Texas Rangers, $5,000 - Rios takes on Phil Hughes tonight in Minnesota. Hughes has been pretty solid - but I guess that's what happens when you leave Yankee stadium. Rios has hit .458 against Hughes in his career, which includes a dinger and five runs batted in.
OF 3 - Adam Jones, Baltimore Orioles, $5,000 - Jones is hitting .381 average with two long balls against Garza, not to mention he is on fire now, and I always say go with the hot bat.
As always be sure to check the weather in the city your players are playing in. Don't forget to check lineups either, nothing worse than having a rostered player on your squad that isn't in the lineup
