Fantasy Football Week 16 Sleepers: Mark Sanchez, Torrey Smith and others

Looking for some sleepers for your Week 16 championship matchup? Ray takes a look at some Week 16 sleepers that could help you win your league championship this week, including Mark Sanchez, Mark Ingram and others.

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

This weekly feature will take a look at some sleepers at each position who could help fantasy teams win their weekly matchup. To determine the sleepers, I will be using the fantasy points allowed at each position statistics, courtesy of AsktheCommish.com. I take a look at which teams/players are playing against the defenses that have allowed the most fantasy points at each position.

For week 16, I will use the fantasy points allowed this season, so we are getting a good idea as to which team defenses are allowing the most fantasy points at each position. Below is a look at how my sleeper selections performed last week:

Sleeper Performance: Week 15

Quarterback

Jay CutlerBears vs Saints -117-31, 194 yards, 2 TDs, 3 INTs

Running Back

Joique BellLions vs Vikings - 15 rushes, 62 yards, 4 receptions, 41 yards, 0 TDs

Wide Receiver

Martavis BryantSteelers vs Falcons -  3 receptions, 31 yards, 0 TDs

Tight End

Zach Ertz, Eagles vs Cowboys -  3 receptions, 32 yards, 0 TDs

Fantasy Points Allowed: Year to Date

Below you will find a table (courtesy of Ask the Commish) that lists, by team defense, the fantasy points each team defense has allowed to opposing quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers and tight ends.

I have selected my sleeper picks based on the fantasy points allowed through week 16, assuming the trend (allowing more fantasy points) continues.

Week 16 Sleepers

Quarterback

Mark Sanchez, Eagles vs Redskins

The Redskins rank 31st in the NFL in fantasy points allowed to opposing QBs, allowing around 20 fantasy points per game. Eagles QB Mark Sanchez was held without a touchdown pass last week vs the Cowboys, and the Redskins gave up three touchdown passes to Eli Manning last week, so Sanchez should perform well in a must win for the Eagles.

Running Back

Mark Ingram, Saints vs Falcons

The Falcons own the worst defense in the NFL in fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs this season, giving up around 22 fantasy points per game. Ingram ran for 59 yards and a score last night vs the Bears and has a solid matchup in Week 16.

Wide Receiver

Torrey Smith, Ravens vs Texans

Well, the Ravens and Texans rank 31st and 32nd in the NFL in fantasy points allowed to opposing wide receivers this season, so any of the Ravens or Texans wide receivers are a solid play this week.

Tight Ends

Coby Fleener, Colts vs Cowboys
