2015 Top 60 Outfield Rankings: Fantasy Impact of Yasmany Tomas signing

We have had a few offseason free agent signings and one big trade that impacts my Top 60 fantasy outfielder rankings for 2015. Yesterday, the Diamondbacks signed Cuban outfielder Yasmany Tomas, and the Mets signed outfielder Michael Cuddyer a few weeks ago. In addition, we had one big trade where former Braves outfielder Jason Heyward was traded to the Cardinals, along with Jordan Walden for Shelby Miller and Tyrell Jenkins.

The move to St. Louis didn't impact Heyward in my rankings, as he remains in the #30 spot in my outfielder rankings, but he has the potential to move up my rankings if he can show us that his power has returned in spring training.

I have ranked new Diamondbacks outfielder Yasmany Tomas as my #31 fantasy outfielder for 2015, but this ranking assumes he starts the season in Arizona. If he starts the season in AAA, he will drop out of my Top 60 rankings. Assuming he starts the season with the big club, he has the potential to provide fantasy owners with solid 20-25 home run power, with 30 home run upside. He is a big guy who could take advantage of the friendly hitting environment in Chase Field, but won't offer much in the stolen base department.

The Mets signed outfielder Michael Cuddyer a few weeks ago, and the move from Coors Field to Citi Field has resulted in him falling from the #28 spot to the #57 spot in my rankings. He also comes with some injury risk, so he could fall into the 60-75 range in my outfield rankings based on other offseason moves over the next few months.

I would be surprised to see the Dodgers deal outfielder Matt Kemp, but there are rumors that the Dodgers have discussed a trade of Kemp with the Padres, probably for a starting pitcher or catcher. Should Kemp be traded to the Padres, he would fall a few spots in my rankings. Possibly more than a few spots.

Another one of my top ranked outfielders, Justin Upton, is also the subject of trade rumors, as he will enter the last year of his contract in 2015, and the Braves appear to be in a full rebuild at the moment. The Mariners are rumored to be interested in dealing for him, and should he be dealt to Seattle, he would also drop in my rankings.
