I come to you a day early this week with Thanksgiving having three games, and one of them early in the day. This way you will be able to look at them and make your decision instead of scrambling on Thursday morning wondering which guy you should pickup quickly to start. Last week just wasn't a good week for the TE position as a whole, as there were not many of the big names as top point scorers at the position. As I have been saying for a large portion of the season, it is better to try and stream your TE each week if you do not have one of the clear cut consistent options at the position. Without dragging this intro longer, let's dive right into the commentary and rankings.
Charles Clay - Clay is set to return this week, but if he doesn't, then Dion Sims would slot directly into the same spot that Clay is in right now. The Dolphin TE that starts will have a great matchup against the Jets who have allowed a league high 12 TD's to opposing TE's. If Clay does play, then he should be able to put up about 40-50 yards with a TD, which is a nice outing.
Tim Wright - I really want to name something after Wright in my rankings. In baseball there is the mendoza line, which is a .200 batting average. Well I need something for Wright who either puts up zero points because he didn't catch a ball that game, or he scores a TD because he caught a ball in that game. For this week, and going forward, wherever Wright is in my rankings means the guys rated ahead of him I feel have a decent chance to score over 6 points for that week. The ones rated below him I think won't score a TD, and have 5 or less points.
Jordan Reed - It looks as though the Redskins are going to cut there losses and bench RG3. He simply isn't the same guy he used to be before his injuries. One aspect of the Redskins offense that was alive last year and at the beginning of this year was the use of the TE. Reed was ruled out last week, so Niles Paul got all of the run at the TE position, but was still only targeted two times. Reed has the ability to be a good TE, he just needs to see the targets for it to happen, and even with Colt McCoy as his QB, this offense just isn't doing enough to play into Reed's talent.
Scott Chandler - I seem to always have Chandler hovering around the top 20 each week, and this week I considered putting him higher. The only thing that held me back was the matchup he has against the Browns this week. The Browns have only allowed 3 TD's all year to opposing TE's, so the chances of Chandler getting one are fairly low. Maybe a nice 30 yard performance will come out of this game, but it is hard to imagine anything more.
Vernon Davis - No analysis on this one, just a question that I have regarding him. Do you think that Davis will combine for more or less points than his week one total. In week one he scored 16 fantasy points, and for the rest of the season he has 11. Does Davis score more or less than 5 points the rest of the season? It's sad that this can actually be a question, but I want to be optimistic and think he randomly scores a TD at some point in the last few weeks here.
