Week 6 Tight End Rankings

Looking for someone to fill in for Travis Kelce and Jimmy Graham this week? Robert has his TE rankings for you to find a suitable replacement in week 6.

Pat Lovell-USA TODAY Sports

Now entering into week 6, the production we have seen out of guys so far, holds more weight than potential.  This is especially important when thinking of the ranking for Zach Ertz.  He still has great potential, and has shown it in flashes, but over the past few weeks it hasn't been there..  Same principle stands for the players who are surprising owners with top level performances.  This means people like Travis Kelce, and Dwayne Allen.  With Allen, he may not have been thought of producing well before the season, but should that really cloud your judgement?  The owners who win on a weekly basis are the ones who are willing to let go of the potential that doesn't look like will blossom, and play those who are actually playing well.  Yesterday we covered the QB, RB, and WR, positions, so now it is time to tackle the TE's.  Below are the top 32 TE's in order for week five, and some added commentary below on a few guys.  Without dragging this intro longer, let's dive right into the commentary and rankings.

Dwayne Allen - Almost a lock every week to get a redzone TD from Andrew Luck.  He has been an ultra consistent option to play as your TE, except for that odd no target week two game.  At least 50 yards and a TD seem to be a lock at the worst for Allen, so just put him into your lineup and take the double digit total he will give you on Thursday night.

Owen Daniels - Hasn't scored a TD since he scored twice in week two, but with Pitta being out, his targets and receptions have gone up the past couple of weeks.  Daniels has turned into the safety option for Joe Flacco, and that is a great role to have.  He had 7 catches last week, and with a great matchup this week, that should happen again as he racks up something like 80+ yards.

Timothy Wright - Finally the Patriots have figured out to run their offense, at least we think.  Wright had a lot of late hype after his trade to New England, but that soon fizzled out when he was not getting any targets.  Wright exploded back on the scene last Sunday night, and if the Patriots are smart, they will continue to deploy him in the same role.  He would rank higher if I knew for certain his role was guaranteed, but with New England, you never know.

Chase Ford - He is another one of those intriguing options because of his size and speed at the position.  With Rudolph out, and Ellison staying in more to help pass protect, Ford went out on a few more routes last week.  That was probably more because of the way the game was going, but just keep an eye on Ford, as he may surprise you and become a top 20 guy.

Lance Kendricks - Don't bother rostering him right now, but if there were an injury to Jared Cook, Kendricks would fly up my ranks.  He would immediately place where Cook has been each week, and may be even higher, as he looks like the better TE of the two.  If an injury does occur and you are in desperate need of a TE, I would put a claim in for Kendricks immediately.  Until then, don't worry about him other than the fact that he is cutting into Cook's production currently.
