This weekly feature will take a look at some sleepers at each position who could help fantasy teams win their weekly matchup. To determine the sleepers, I will be using the fantasy points allowed at each position statistics, courtesy of AsktheCommish.com.
For week 9, I will use the fantasy points allowed this season, so we are getting a good idea as to which team defenses are allowing the most fantasy points at each position.
Teams on bye: Atlanta, Buffalo, Detroit, Green Bay, Chicago, Tennessee
Sleeper Performance: Week 8
Quarterback: Carson Palmer, Cardinals vs Eagles - 20-42, 329 yards, 2 TDs
Running Back: Jerick McKinnon, Viking vs Buccaneers - 16 rushes for 83 yards, 0 TDs
Wide Receiver: Percy Harvin, Jets vs Bills - 4 rushes, 28 yards, 3 receptions, 22 yards, 0 TDs
Tight End: Travis Kelce, Chiefs vs Rams - 4 receptions, 45 yards, 0 TDs
Fantasy Points Allowed: Year to Date
Below you will find a table (courtesy of Ask the Commish) that lists, by team defense, the fantasy points each team defense has allowed to opposing quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers and tight ends.
I have selected my sleeper picks based on the fantasy points allowed through the first eight weeks of the season, assuming the trend (allowing more fantasy points) continues.

Week 9 Sleepers
Quarterback
Alex Smith, Chiefs vs Jets
Smith faces off against a Jets team that ranks last in total points allowed to opposing quarterbacks, and has given up 22 touchdown passes in 8 games thus far. Need I say more? The guys at numberFire project him to score 18 points this week, but there is a chance for more vs this defense.
Running Back
Ben Tate, Browns vs Buccaneers
Tate faces off against the Buccaneers defense that ranks 20th in fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs, giving up 20 points per game. Tate struggled last week vs the Raiders running for just 26 yards on 15 carries, but he did get into the end zone, and he has a good chance at doing the same this week vs the Buccaneers porous D.
Wide Receiver
Dwayne Bowe, Chiefs vs Jets
The Chiefs are playing at home facing the worst pass defense in the NFL, giving up 22 touchdown passes thus far, five more than any other team. The Jets defense is giving up 25 fantasy points per game vs opposing wide receivers this season, and Bowe is due to get into the end zone this week.
Tight End
Owen Daniels, Ravens vs Steelers
Daniels is coming off a big game last week vs the Falcons, catching six of his nine targets for 58 yards and a touchdown. This week he gets to face the Steelers defense that ranks 26th in fantasy points allowed to opposing tight ends.
John Carlson, Cardinals vs Cowboys
Carlson has a good matchup vs a Cowboys defense that ranks 31st in fantasy points allowed to opposing tight ends this season.
