Week 8 Wide Receiver Rankings

Week 8 is now upon us, which means it is time to make your lineup decisions. We have you covered with our WR rankings to help you get that win this week.

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

With a little under half of the season already down with, most of the top guys at WR are those you could have expected before the season.  The surprises though are ones you need to consider as either trade bait, or ones that you will want to hold onto, since they will keep up this level of production.  Steve Smith is one of them that I would be seeking out offers on.  I am not a big fan of the players who are inconsistent on a week to week basis.  That is how I see Steve Smith, so if you can get a top 10 receiver value for him, I would gladly accept.  T.Y. Hilton on the other-hand I would hold onto.  The reason for this is because he has been consistent on a week to week basis, and the only thing missing is the touchdowns.  Those will come as Andrew Luck has shown his top 5 QB abilities this year and constantly looks his way.  These are key decisions you will have to make here in the near future, and ones that are necessary to win your league.  Remember that there are two teams on bye this week, which I will have listed below.  With that, let's take a look at the rankings and comments on a few of the guys.

A.J. Green - I expect Green to play this week with no lingering effects.  A couple of games from now he may start to feel the pain again, but for now I see him being close to 100%, and you should play him as such.  If he puts up a big performance this week, it may be the perfect time to sell him off to someone and try to get your full return back.

Mike Wallace - Has scored between 8 and 12 points each week so far this season.  That is the type of consistency I love to see out of a guy.  Wallace has gone from an extreme boom or bust guy a couple years ago to a now trusted guy in your lineup.  Keep him in there the rest of the season, and feel confident that he won't burn you in a week.  If Wallace was to have one of his big weeks, it would be now against the Jaguars.

Dwayne Bowe - Purely a matchup play this week.  He goes up against the Rams who have allowed the third most points per game to opposing WR's this year.  He has been more involved in the offense as of late, so I think that he could score in this game.

Steve Smith - I am down on Smith in the long-term, but this weeks ranking is because he goes up against the Bengals.  The Panthers did show that they can be passed on, but Torrey Smith has become relevant again, so Steve Smith is going to be more inconsistent going forward.  That with the bad matchup is a recipe for disaster in week 8.

Terrance Williams - At a certain point, I guess what he has done so far this year can't be contributed to dumb luck.  Only once has he had a week with less than 7 fantasy points.  If he could somehow start getting more targets in this offense, he would rate much higher, but until then I feel as though this is his ceiling.

Percy Harvin - This was the hardest person to rank this week.  It is unclear right now what kind of role he will have with the Jets right away, so ranking him as a starter wouldn't seem right.  He could absolutely explode this week with the Jets trying to show everyone they got the steal of the year in the trade, but I am honestly ok with seeing that happen while he is on my bench.  Too many different outcomes could happen, and if you are one who likes to take risks, start him with confidence, I am just a little more risk adverse and wouldn't.

Davante Adams - He is probably already owned if you are in a deeper league, but for those of you in ten team leagues, keep an eye on Davante Adams.  He has become the clear cut number 3 WR on the Packers, and has shown a little bit of his skills so far.  If he starts to get more targets on a week to week basis, he will vault himself up in the WR3 status for Fantasy Owners, and potentially higher if an injury would occur.

Justin Hunter - I just know now that I ranked him twenty spots lower than last week that he will put up that breakout game I expect in week 7.  I just know that is what will happen, but he has not earned my trust to rank him in the top 40 again yet.  I need to see it first, and then maybe I will jump back on the bandwagon.
