Week 5 PPR WR/TE Sleepers
By: Tyler Baddick
As we come to the end on week 4 in this NFL season, injuries are starting to affect fantasy teams all around. With teams on their bye weeks as well, it is my job to give you the best advice for up and coming receivers and tight ends that can help fantasy owners in PPR format leagues. As everyone knows, WR and TE are very important to fantasy owners in PPR leagues. This makes it crucial to find those under the radar guys during waivers each week. Don't miss out on the next big stud.
Heading into week 5
All players on my list are owned in less than 30% of ESPN Leagues
Marvin Jones - Wide Receiver - Cincinnati Bengals (0.9%owned)
Marvin Jones is on track to suit up for his first football game in the 2014 season. If you remember, Marvin was one of the key waiver wire pickups last year and was a solid fantasy option for owners. I expect the same with him finally returning. If he can do anything near what he did last year, he will be a steal on the waiver wire. The Bengal's offense has looked good as well and they will be facing a struggling patriot's team who just got destroyed by the Chiefs. I expect Marvin Jones to be ease into the lineup but given time he should provide fantasy owners with some very solid numbers. He is definitely worth taking a chance on.
Odell Beckham Jr. - Wide Receiver - New York Giants (3.2% owned)
Odell Beckham is a very explosive and dynamic wide receiver which is why he was the New York Giant's 1st round pick this year. It looks like the first round talent will suit up for his first NFL game this week against the Atlanta Falcons. Yes, he hasn't proven anything yet in the league but he is worth taking a shot on. There is a reason why this stud was a 1st round talent at LSU. Also look how hot this Giant's offense is right now. Eli Manning is destroying teams with this new west coast offense system. With Odell's speed and precise route running, he will fit this system just fine. Look for him to be active on special teams as well with his great return ability. I expect big things from the former LSU star.
Devin Hester - Wide Receiver - Atlanta Falcons (17.5% owned)
Everyone knows Devin Hester is one of the greatest kick returners of all time. But he has actually shown to be a solid offensive weapon for the falcons as well this season. Catching 12 passes for almost 200 yards and a touchdown in the passing game is a solid start actually. Did I mention that he also has a 20 yard touchdown run on the year as well? Devin has shown he can contribute to your team in so many ways. He is definitely worth a shot in deeper fantasy formats as a possible flex option. He has put up solid numbers so far this year, don't miss your chance.
Heath Miller - Tight End - Pittsburg Steelers (16.6% owned)
Heath has been one of Big Ben's reliable targets for years now. With a week 5 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars who rank last in the league against the pass, I expect a nice week by Heath Miller. I feel like even I can put up some numbers if I went up against Jacksonville this season. They have been shredded through the air all season long, do yourself a favor and not only pickup Heath Miller this week, but I see him as a solid starter for fantasy owners as well this week. Do yourself a favor and give Mr. Reliable a shot this week.
Clay Harbor - Tight End - Jacksonville Jaguars (1% owned)
I am going to stick with this Steelers vs Jaguars matchup. Pittsburg is not much better against the pass as they are currently ranked 20th. Look for rookie QB to look Clay Harbor's way plenty in this matchup as he did last week as well. Blake targeted Clay Harbor 8 times in which Clay caught all 8 of those targets for 69 yards last week. With Mercedes Lewis still injured, the position is all Clay's for right now. Clay has more of a physical rather than speed style of play with his 4.69 40 time. But with his precise route running and 40inch vertical, he is a tough guy to cover. Look for Blake to look Clay's way this season as Clay made the most of all his opportunities in week 4.
Coby Fleener - Tight End - Indianapolis Colts (16.4% owned)
The teammate of QB Andrew Luck for years now has always been a target of Luck's. Back to back games with a touchdown now and a start against the Ravens who are ranked 26th against the pass seems like a very promising outing for Coby Fleener. Yes, we all know Dwayne Allen is on the team. But Andrew Luck who is currently the number 1 fantasy QB in most formats has been looking both their ways in the past 2 weeks. I go with Fleener here though just because he is more familiar with Mr. Luck. Give Coby a shot this week if you are struggling to start a TE as I expect him to get in the end zone once again this week against the Ravens.
