Sorry about not posting the first part of my weekly fantasy advice yesterday. My computer thought that it was the Netherlands in a big international match and just completely shut down. (ZING!) Luckily for you, all is up and running again and you get both parts in one big column. How excited are you? I can barely contain myself.
Goalkeepers
- David Stockdale (Fulham) - Yes, I am going against all logic and picking Stockdale to have a clean sheet this week. He hasn't been the problem with the Cottagers this year. Look for a big fat "0" on the scoreboard for Cardiff City. (VERDICT: PLAY)
- Boaz Myhill (West Brom) - I am assuming he will start in net against Manchester United this week. (VERDICT: BENCH)
- Tim Howard (Everton) - Look for a good game from the American. (VERDICT: PLAY)
Defenders
- John Terry (Chelsea) - The Stultz Guarantee of the Week! If Chelsea are to go into White Hart Lane and steal a win from Spurs (which I think they will), Terry will have to have a huge game. I can't believe I just put my last name alongside "guarantee" and "John Terry". I'm really not a scumbag. (VERDICT: PLAY)
- Sascha Reither (Fulham) - I am feeling good about the Cottagers this week and not just because that horrific statue of Michael Jackson was taken down outside of Craven Cottage. (Seriously, that made my week.) If I am picking Reither to have a good game, I must be either delirious from the Capital One Cup win over Everton or drunk. Maybe a little bit of both. (VERDICT: PLAY)
- Phil Jones (Manchester United) - The picture and headline below is what shows up on the ESPN team page for United.
-
Phil Jones is a solid defender but PLEASE do not even start to compare him to Mariano Rivera. This is a bad omen for Mr. Jones. (VERDICT: BENCH)
- Aston Villa Defenders - I won't single one of them out but I would look for all of them to have a good match this week. City has been playing down to their competition and are coming off a big win over United. Look for a letdown by City. (VERDICT: PLAY)
Midfielders
- Mousa Dembele (Tottenham Hotspur) - If Spurs are ever going to get over that hump and into the top four, they need to win matches like this one against Chelsea at home. Dembele will need a huge effort for them. I just don't see it. (VERDICT: BENCH)
- Damien Duff (Fulham) - THAT'S RIGHT! I AM TALKING ABOUT A THIRD FULHAM PLAYER! WANNA FIGHT ABOUT IT? I love the Irish! (VERDICT: PLAY)
- Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal) - Just do it. (VERDICT: PLAY)
- Robert Brady (Hull City) - Hull City taking on West Ham. Wake me up when this one ends in a scoreless draw. (VERDICT: BENCH)
- Nathan Redmond (Norwich City) - I like this Norwich side. I especially like them going up against Stoke City. (VERDICT: PLAY)
Forwards (Let's Make This Quick)
- Jozy Altidore (Sunderland) - Will they have a new manager by Saturday? (Sources say Gustavo Poyet is close to signing as I type this.) How will Altidore fit in? Who knows? (VERDICT: BENCH)
- Wayne Rooney (Manchester United) - He's ticked off. (VERDICT: PLAY)
- Dimitar Berbatov (Fulham) - He scored on Tuesday. He's good for at least 3 weeks. (VERDICT: BENCH)
- Rickie Lambert (Southampton) - Never met a shot he didn't like to take. (VERDICT: PLAY)
