Ryan Madson will be back next weekend but it remains to be seen how effective he will be. Ernesto Frieri's closer job still seems secure for now. Jered Weaver is still a few weeks from making his return. Garret Richards was filling in for Weaver but will now pitch out of the bullpen while Jerome Williams will start against the White Sox this Saturday.
Dallas Keuchel will replace Phillip Humber in the rotation against the Rangers tomorrow. Erik Bedard will rejoin the rotation, possibly for just one start, against the Rangers on Saturday. I don't recommend playing either pitcher this weekend. Robbie Grossman had a couple of stolen bases on Tuesday and hits leadoff against RHP. If you are desperate for an OF in an AL-only league he is worth some consideration. J.D. Martinez returned from the DL and Jimmy Paredes was called up from AAA. Each have questionable fantasy value.
Brett Anderson will likely make his return next weekend. Josh Reddick will miss at least a couple weeks with a wrist injury. Daric Barton was called up and could get some starts at first base on days than Brandon Moss plays the outfield.
Ricky Romero was sent down to AAA and has some real issues that need to be ironed out before he can be trusted for fantasy again. JA Happ was hit in the head by a line-drive and now has a knee injury and a fracture in his head. It's unknown how long he will need to recover. Sergio Santos should return in a couple weeks to be the 8th inning guy. He'll be valuable in leagues that count holds.
Brett Myers will try to pitch tomorrow but I am not optimistic about his chances to avoid elbow surgery. Vinnie Pestano has a minor elbow injury but he should be fine to return soon. Mark Reynolds has 5 games played at 3B and will likely reach 10 by the end of the month. His dual eligibility in most leagues will increase his value. Even if you don't need him at 3B it will increase his trade value.
Michael Saunders is providing plenty of fantasy value filling in for Franklin Gutierrez. Gutierrez is still at least a couple weeks away from returning.
Brian Roberts will need surgery on his hamstring and will miss another two months. Tsuyoshi Wada is still about a month away from being ready to contribute.
AJ Pierzynski will miss a few weeks with an oblique injury. Robinson Chirinos was called up from AAA and could potentially share playing time with Geovany Soto. Each are worth a flier if you really need a catcher. Justin Grimm did not get good results in his last start against the Brewers but I think he's still a very strong streaming option moving forward. Martin Perez is a few weeks away from being healthy enough to return. With Colby Lewis also set to return in early June it is possible there won't be a rotation spot for Perez when he's ready.
Roberto Hernandez is a decent streaming option against the Padres this Sunday. Wil Myers is only hitting .200 with 1 HR in his last ten games at AAA. He isn't close to being called up yet.
Allen Webster got lit up by the Twins yesterday and it looks as though Felix Doubront will regain his rotation spot. Andrew Bailey will return before Joel Hanrahan and is likely to reclaim the closer job from Junichi Tazawa at that time. Hanrahan's injury could require an extended stay on the DL.
Luis Mendoza has struggled and Luke Hochevar has been tremendous out of the bullpen. This could end up meaning Hochevar joins the rotation at some point but that is just speculation.
Phil Coke and Octavio Dotel will return soon but neither will be getting save chances as long as Jose Valverde continues pitching well.
Ryan Doumit and Oswaldo Arcia are getting hot at the plate. Doumit had been ice cold all year but has hit a couple HR in his last two games. Arcia was one of the Twins top prospects coming into the season. On days that they are in the lineup they each make decent streaming options.
Hector Santiago is worth a pickup in all leagues. He dominated the Mets on Tuesday and I have been invested in him for a while as a potentially dominant fantasy starter.
Eduardo Nunez might not return this weekend from his rib injury. Curtis Granderson will begin his AAA rehab assignment today and could be back very quickly. Ivan Nova has proved healthy enough to pitch and could end up returning to the Yankees rotation within a week or two.
