The Streamer Report provides you with daily streaming starting pitcher selections everyday for those who like to stream starting pitchers in their fantasy leagues. The report will identify starting pitchers who are owned in less than 50% of ESPN leagues, and who have a decent track record vs their opponent.
Before I get to Friday's streamers, here is how my selections for Wednesday's games fared:
Jake Westbrook vs Cubs - 5.1 IP,. 9 H, 3 ER, BB, K
Ricky Nolasco vs Padres - 7 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, BB, 9 K, L
Barry Zito vs Giants - 7 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, O BB, 3 K
Chris Tillman vs Royals - 6 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, W
Combined stats: 25.1 IP, 22 H, 8 ER, 5 BB, 15 K, 2.87 ERA, 1.08 WHIP
Here are my streamer selections for Friday's games:
Jose Fernandez vs Dodgers
Fernandez is owned in 25.7% of ESPN leagues and that number could rise if he can put together a few more excellent starts like he did last week vs the Phillies, shutting them out for 7 innings on one hit, a walk and nine strikeouts. He faces the Dodgers team that is currently 28th in runs scored this season.
Phil Hughes vs Royals
Hughes is owned in 46.8% of ESPN leagues, and that is up 29.1% in the last week. He is coming off eight shutout innings vs the A's where he gave up just six base runners and struck out 9. In three career starts at Kaufman Stadium, Hughes is 2-1 with an ERA over 5.00 and a WHIP over 1.70, but he has been pitching well of late, and I see him continuing that trend.
Jason Hammel vs Twins
Hammel is owned in 25.3% of ESPN leagues, and gets the Twins at Target Field on Friday night. Hammel is coming of a start where he gave up four runs in six innings vs the Angels, but he was solid in his previous two starts, where he gave up two runs in five innings vs the Mariners and threw six shutout innings vs the A's. In five career appearances vs the Twins, Hammel is 2-1 with a 2.93 ERA and 0.94 WHIP.
