The Streamer Report provides you with daily streaming starting pitcher selections everyday for those who like to stream starting pitchers in their fantasy leagues. The report will identify starting pitchers who are owned in less than 50% of ESPN leagues, and who have a decent track record vs their opponent.
Before I get to Friday's streamers, here is how my selections for Wednesday's games fared:
Dillon Gee vs Marlins - 5 IP, 9 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 1 K, W
Josh Beckett vs Rockies - 4 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 6 K, L
David Phelps vs Astros - 5.2 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, BB, 5K
Combined stats: 14.2 IP, 22 H, 12 ER, 6 BB, 12 K, 7.61 ERA, 1.97 WHIP......more OUCH
And now for my streamer picks for Friday's games:
Ricky Nolasco vs Phillies
Nolasco is owned in just 2.6% of ESPN leagues, but should be picked up for this start on Friday night. In 16 career starts vs the Phillies, he is 8-5 with a 3.73 ERA and 1.196 WHIP. He is even better pitching in Philadelphia, for some reason, where he owns a 6-1 record with a 2.98 ERA and 1.117 WHIP in 7 career starts.
J.A. Happ vs Mariners
Happ is owned in just 2.9% of ESPN leagues, so you should have no trouble picking him up on the waiver wire. He gets to face the Mariners at the Rogers Centre, where he is 4-2 with a 3.51 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in 8 career appearances there.
Jason Vargas vs Orioles
Vargas is owned in 11.1% of ESPN leagues, but has a good matchup vs the Orioles on Friday night. In 6 career starts vs the Orioles, he is 1-2 with a 2.03 ERA and 1.125 WHIP.
Make sure you check out the Streamer Sweet Spot, published by Brian Creagh, where he identifies teams that have trouble scoring runs and strike out a lot. You can find his article here.
