  • George Springer is now leading the minors in home runs with 13 (and tied with Justin Upton for the organized baseball lead), and was the first player to reach double digit steals and home runs in the minors this year.
  • Tyler Austin has been treading water at AA, which given his age isn't a surprise. Josh Norris of the Trentonian had notes from a scout on Austin as well, and that report on Austin is discouraging:

I don't think he's an everyday guy, for me. I think the swing gets long. I think he comes off the outside. With that said, he's got pop and he's got juice in that bat. He's gonna put some charges into some balls. I think, if I'm projecting him, he's going to be a fourth outfielder, an offensive fourth outfielder that's going to be able to come off the bench and play a couple of times a week in the big leagues. But I think if he plays every day in the big leagues I think his bat gets exposed. I think he's a big leaguer, but I just don't think he's an everyday corner guy.

  • Wisler and Bradley were both promoted to AA in the past two weeks, and Bradley just kept right on rolling through AA competition despite having to leave his second start earlier due to an injury suffered sliding into second base.
  • John Sickels posted in Monday's Minor League Gameday Thread about Anthony Ranaudo, including a quote mentioning that we may want to be a bit cautious in reading just the performance of Anthony Ranaudo.
  • Carlos Pimentel's numbers jumped off the leaderboard page with 51 strikeouts in 41 innings, especially given that he did not show up on any top prospect lists, including the community-driven top 30 list from Lone Star Ball. I need to do a little more research and see if this is legitimate or not.
  • Danny Salazar of the Indians is an interesting prospect who was promoted to AAA earlier in the week after striking out 38 and walking just 5 over his last 21 innings (4 starts) at AA. He is already on the 40-man roster, and could potentially be in line for a call up at some point if the Indians need another starting pitcher.
