The Streamer Report provides you with daily streaming starting pitcher selections for the fantasy owner who likes to stream starting pitchers in leagues with no innings cap. The report will identify starting pitchers who are owned in less than 50% of ESPN leagues, and who either have a decent track record vs their opponent, has pitched well of late, or has a good matchup.
Before I get into Thursday's streaming pitcher selections, here is how my selections for Tuesday's games performed:
Chris Tillman vs Padres - 7 IP, 4 H, ER, 2 BB, 7 K
Scott Kazmir vs Phillies - 5 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 3K, L
John Lackey vs Rays - 4.1 IP, 9 H, 5 ER, BB, 3 K, L
Combined stats: 16.1 IP, 19 H, 10 ER, 5 BB, 13 K, 2 L, 5.59 ERA, 1.491 WHIP
My streaming pitcher selections for Thursday's games:
Jose Fernandez vs Reds
Fernandez is owned in 46.0% of ESPN leagues, and gets to face the Reds for the first time at Marlins Park. Fernandez has been compared to a young Felix Hernandez by Dodgers manager Don Mattingly, and he will need to pitch like King Felix vs the Reds. He has given up 3 runs or less in four of his seven starts this season, and owns a 3.65 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and a 39-14 K-BB rate in 37 innings.
Jhoulys Chacin vs Giants
Chacin is owned in 25.7% of ESPN leagues, and faces the Giants at Coors Field on Thursday night. Chacin owns a 3-4 record with a 3.59 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 10 career appearances vs the Giants.
Edison Volquez vs Nationals
Volquez is owned in just 1.8% of ESPN leagues and faces off against Stephen Strasburg and the Nationals on Thursday night. Volquez will be pitching at Petco Park, where he owns a 9-7 record with a 2.96 ERA and 1.241 WHIP in 24 career appearances (23 starts) in his career.
