Week Seven Starting Pitchers
1. Ubaldo Jimenez vs. Seattle Mariners (5/17)
2. Phil Hughes vs. Seattle Mariners (5/15)
3. Jeff Locke vs. Milwaukee Brewers (5/14) vs. Houston Astros (5/19)
4. Brandon McCarthy at Miami Marlins (5/18)
5. Kevin Slowey vs. Arizona Diamondback (5/16)
It is a sad, sad week as it looks like Scott Feldman, Zach McAllister, and Kyle Kendrick have all graduated from the School of Waiver Wire Pitchers. Phil Hughes and Kevin Slowey had rough starts in Week Six, ending their string of quality outings. Owners have a short fuse with these guys, so you may be able to scoop them off of waivers and hope that they get back on track in Week Seven. Ubaldo has been excellent of late. He has kept his walks down and his strikeouts have been on the rise. He still frightens me though because you never know when he will explode and walk 6 in two innings. Locke has been very solid lately as well and he will take the bump twice at home in Week Seven.
Week Seven Hitters
San Francisco Giants at Toronto Blue Jays at Colorado Rockies
Detroit Tigers vs. Houston Astros at Texas Rangers
Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Milwaukee Brewers vs. Houston Astros
Justin Ruggiano
Lyle Overbay
Travis Hafner
Lucas Duda
The Yankees will play 8 games in Week Seven (doubleheader on Monday). They will face 7 right-handed pitchers, which is why Overbay and Hafner make the list. The Mets will face 6 righties and this favors lefties like Lucas Duda. Justin Ruggiano is only owned in about 40% of leagues. This baffles me because he has 6 homers and 5 steals on the year. Yeah, his average is low (.221), but I like to think that Ruggiano is worthy of a bench spot in most fantasy formats.
