The Streamer Report provides you with some streaming starting pitching options for Friday's MLB games. The report will identify starting pitchers who are owned in less than 50% of ESPN leagues.
Before getting to Friday's action, I want to review how my streaming picks worked out on Wednesday. One pick was very good, and the other was beyond terrible. The Cubs-Rangers game was postponed. Let's take a look.
Ross Detwiler vs Marlins - 7 IP, 7 hits, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K, W
Bud Norris vs A's - 0.2 IP, 5 hits, 6 ER, 3 BB, 0 K, L
Carlos Villanueva vs Rangers -postponed
FWIW, as I write this, Viillanueva has held the Rangers to just one run in 6 innings, giving up just 4 base runners while striking out 6.
Overall, it was not a pretty showing due to Norris' inability to get out of the first inning. Friday's slate of games are highlighted by the Met-Nationals series where one ace faces off against a future ace. Stephen Strasburg faces off against Matt Harvey in the first of probably many pitching duels between the two teams.
Here are Friday's selections:
Wandy Rodriguez vs Braves
In 11 career starts vs the Braves, Wandy is 3-3 with a 3.41 ERA and 1.288 WHIP. The Braves are hot right now, but the Pirates are starting to play some good baseball, and I can see the Pirates getting to Braves starter Tim Hudson.
Jason Hammel vs Dodgers
In his 10 starts at home last season, Hammel went 4-2 with a 3.44 ERA and 1.255 WHIP. He faces a Dodgers team that is struggling to score runs, so his chance of grabbing a win is pretty good.
Lucas Harrell vs Indians
Harrell has made three starts this season, one very bad start sandwiched in between two very good starts where he induced 12 ground ball outs in both of those starts. In his young career, he has made 20 starts at home, going 7-6 with a very good 3.39 ERA.
