The Streamer Report: Thursday's Starting Pitcher Targets

Ray Guilfoyle provides his thoughts on some streaming starting pitching options for Thursday's games.

Christian Petersen

The Streamer Reports provides you with some streaming starting pitching options for Thursday's MLB games. The report will identify starting pitchers who are owned in less than 50% of ESPN leagues.

Before getting to Thursday's action, I want to review how my streaming picks worked out on Tuesday:

A.J. Griffin vs Astros - 6 IP, 4 hits, 2 ER, 4 BB, 8 K, ND

Chris Capuano vs Padres - 2 IP, 5 hits, 5 ER, 2 BB, 0 K, L

Travis Wood vs Rangers - 7.1 IP, 5 hits, 2 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, L

Jason Vargas vs Twins - 3.1 IP, 9 hits, 5 ER, 2 BB, 0 K, L

Griffin and Wood pitched well, while Capuano showed he was not ready to be thrown in the rotation, and then injured his calf covering first base. I went back to the well with Vargas, and he got lit up by the Twins, whose bats have caught fire this week.

Thursday's selections

I will go with three young starters on Thursday, all pitching well early in the 2013 season.

Zach McAllister vs Red Sox

McAllister has pitched well in his two starts this season, going 1-1 with a 2.19 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and a 9-0 strikeout to walk ratio.

Patrick Corbin vs Yankees

Like McAllister, Corbin has pitched well in his first two starts of the season, going 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. In 12 innings thus far, he has induced 20 ground ball outs.

Tony Cingrani vs Marlins

I assume Cingrani will get the call vs the Marlins on Thursday. He has dominated AAA thus far in 2013, striking out 26 and walking just one in 14.1 innings.
