This report identifies some starting pitchers who are owned in less than 50% of ESPN leagues that you may want to grab off of your league waiver wire for a spot start on Friday. Beginning on Monday, I will include provide streamer selections for two days, instead of just the current day.
Here is how I fared on Fridays streamer pitcher selections:
Mike Leake -Loss, 6 IP, 10 hits, 5 ERA, 2 BB, 2 K
Ross Detwiler: ND, 7 IP, 4 hits, 1 run, 2 BB, 5 K
Going forward, I will focus on how well the starter pitched, rather than win or loss, as wins are so hard to predict.
Here are my rankings for Saturday's streamers:
1. Jhoulys Chacin vs Padres
In 8 career appearances vs the Padres, Chacin in 3-1 with a 2.57 ERA and 1.089 WHIP. He owns a 1.35 ERA and 0.90 WHIP in his two starts this season.
2. Jason Hammel vs Yankees
Hammel has not pitched well in his career vs the Yankees, but I am betting that he does today.
3. Jose Fernandez vs Phillies
I admit to cheating a bit here, as Hernandez is owned in 59% of ESPN leagues, and I wonder why is not owned in more. He gets the Phillies at home tonight, and if Ricky Nolasco can hold them to one run, I think Hernandez can perform just as well, as he has a deeper mix of pitches than Nolasco.
4. Lucas Harrell vs Angels
Another hunch pick here. The Astros are rolling and the Angels are scuffling at the plate right now. Harrell is due for a good start and the Angels just might be what the doctor ordered.
