Every year, fantasy baseball sites across the net publish their own position rankings, but I thought it would be a fun exercise to see how the LABR fantasy baseball experts ranked players by position using their auction bids. I know this isn't what would truly happen in a mixed league draft, but here is how the LABR experts ranked players this weekend in Arizona using their wallets, so to speak:
Catcher
I think the LABR experts did a great job using their auction dollars based on these catcher rankings. I was a bit down on the Wilin Rosario bid, as I would drop him a few spots behind Sal Perez, but otherwise, solid catcher rankings here.

First Base
I wouldn't have spent $38 on Votto, as I think Prince Fielder will be the #1 fantasy first baseman in 2013. I ranked them Fielder > AGonz > Votto > Pujols in our consensus first base rankings earlier this offseason.
I like Cardinals first baseman Allen Craig more than the LABR experts, but he does have some injury risk attached to him. I ranked Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt a few spots lower than the experts did this weekend, but he has received plenty of love this offseason.
Finally, I am much lower on Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman than the experts. I would gladly settle for Mark Teixeira, Eric Hosmer or Ike Davis over Freeman.

Second Base
I am higher on Chase Utley and Dan Uggla in the second base rankings here. I think the two old men can help fantasy owners this season, as Utley was very productive in his injury shortened season in 2012. I think Uggla's 2012 season has lowered his ADP, which mean that you should pounce on him if you need some pop in your infield.

Shortstop
I think Ian Desmond and Everth Cabrera are too high in the LABR "rankings" here, but there is plenty of speed to be had at the shortsop position this season.

Third Base
Miguel Cabrera as the #1 fantasy third baseman? Are you serious? Haha....just joshing. I do question the ranking of David Wright and Evan Longoria here, as I prefer Adrian Beltre and Ryan Zimmerman ahead of those two in 2013.

Outfield
I would switch Ryan Braun and Mike Trout at the top of the outfield rankings, while Bryce Harper and Jose Bautista area bit too high for my liking. I could have sworn Stanton went for $35 or $36. Maybe my eyes are getting worse? I think he should be higher here, and the same goes for Jay Bruce, Adam Jones and Matt Holliday.

Pitchers
I didn't differentiate between starters and closers, but the top three starters are in the right order. I would rank Price, Hamels and Felix ahead of Lee, but that is no slight to Lee. Roy Halladay is too high for me, and I think Zack Greinke deserves a ranking a few spots higher.
