It's been awhile since I updated my top 50 hitter rankings for some of the offseason moves, so here is my first take on my Top 100 Hitters for 2014.
I started by just updating my top 50 hitters, got to 60, then 75, then said the heck with it, let's do 100. I may have missed a player here and there, so let me know if I did.
I moved Jacoby Ellsbury up in my rankings, as he now ranks at # 42, as I think we could see mid-teens power from him in 2014, along with 90+ runs and 40+ stolen bases. I moved Giancarlo Stanton down a bit in my rankings after Alex Kantecki's piece on him earlier this week.
Another guy making a big move in my hitter rankings is Rangers new first baseman Prince Fielder. I think he will return to the hitter we saw in Milwaukee, hitting 35ish home runs, 100+ RBI and a .290ish batting average. That's valuable.
I moved up Matt Holiday in these rankings because he is one of the most consistent hitters in the game, and the only risk he brings to the draft table is his age and the threat of injury, but has yet to suffer a significant injury.
Update: I somehow missed moving Mariners new second baseman Robinson Cano down in my Top 100, so my rankings have been updated below. Cano now ranks as my 22nd ranked hitter for 2014 for reasons I explained in my updated top 20 second base rankings.
You can find all of my early 2014 position rankings in the links below:
So, let's take a look at my Top 100 Hitters for 2014:
