It's been almost two weeks since we last looked at some possible waiver wire adds. Let's see what the waiver pool has to offer us now.
Martell Webster - Washington Wizards
Webster is taking full advantage of Ariza's absence. In the Wizards past two games, Webster has averaged 17.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.5 steals. He's also a good source for 3's, averaging 1.8 3-pointers made for the season thus far. Pick him up and take advantage of the minutes he is seeing while Ariza is out.
DeMarre Carroll - Atlanta Hawks
Carroll has put together two straight solid games and the Hawks seem to like him more and more as the season goes on. On Friday, Carroll had a fantastic night with 21 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. He added five 3-pointers as well going 5-8 from 3-point land. Before that, Carroll was only shooting 25% from beyond the arc and had only made seven 3-pointers all season long. It is definitely a plus for him if he can continue shooting like that as the season progresses. The following night, Carroll finished with 10 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. He added one 3-pointer going 1-3 from 3-point territory on the night.
Tony Wroten - Philadelphia 76ers
I touched on Wroten in my previous waiver article two weeks ago. Since then, Wroten has pretty much blown up. We saw him go for a triple-double against the Rockets with 18 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds. He followed up that performance with 22 points, 6 assists and 1 steal against Atlanta. In his most recent game against New Orleans, he went for 19 points, 2 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. In those three games, star rookie point guard, Michael Carter-Williams has been out injured. However, even with Carter-Williams healthy, we have seen Wroten produce. MCW will miss tonight's game as well, so if you don't already have Wroten, it wouldn't be worst idea if you went ahead and added him now.
Tony Allen - Memphis Grizzlies
Allen is known for his defense. He is a fantastic defender and if your team is hurting in the steals category, Tony Allen can help you. He has also been scoring lately. In four out of the last five games, Tony Allen has averaged 11.5 points, 4.25 rebounds, 2 assists and 1.75 steals. He is not a great source for 3's, but he is definitely a great source for steals, he's been scoring lately and can contribute some rebounds as well.
Gerald Henderson - Charlotte Bobcats
Gerald Henderson is still available in a lot of leagues, and I don't know why. He's averaging 13.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 0.9 steals on the season so far. Let's look 6 of his last 7 games: 16 points, 6.17 rebounds, 2.67 assists and 1.17 steals. Henderson is going to get a lot of minutes on a bad team. Add him.
Terrence Jones - Houston Rockets
The second year man from Kentucky has seen his stock sky rocket in the past four games. Jones replaced Omer Asik in the starting lineup, four games ago. Asik is looking for a trade, the Rockets have refused to grant his wish, but in the meantime, Jones is reaping the benefits. Let's go game-by-game and take a look at what Terrence Jones has done since getting the call as starter. Game 1 vs Toronto, 7 points, 10 rebounds, 4 blocks. Game 2 vs Philadelphia, 10 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks and1 assist. Game 3 vs New York, 6 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Game 4 vs Denver, 14 points, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Clearly, Terrence Jones is terrific source of rebounds, blocks and points. He has only made three 3-pointers in those 4 games so his 3-point game is not something to count on, but he can pitch in every now and then. The stats speak for themselves, go get Terrance Jones on your team. NOW.
Marcus Morris - Phoenix Suns
I hesitated to put Morris on this list but he has put up consistent rebounding numbers. So if you really need help in rebounds, he is a good choice. He is inconsistent in the points department, but has shown signs of double-digit capabilities, he just hasn't done it consistently. The rebounds have always been there, regardless of his scoring.
Jarrett Jack - Cleveland Cavaliers
Dion Waiters has been out sick for the past two games, Jarrett Jack has been pretty productive in his absence. In the past two games with Waiters out, Jack has averaged 12 points, 3.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals. He has not been very consistent all season, but while Waiters is out, Jack is certainly worth a look.
Mo Williams - Portland Trail Blazers
Mo Williams is in a tough situation playing behind Damian Lillard and Wes Matthews but has put together four games in a row with solid numbers. He has played 30+ minutes in all four of those games, let's take a look game-by-game. It all started November 11th against Detroit, Mo finished with 17 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal and went 1-1 from 3-point land. The following game against Phoenix, Mo went for 12 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 steal and 2-3 from beyond the arc. The third game of this streak, Mo faced Boston and finished with 18 points, 8 assists, 1 rebound, 3 steals and no 3-pointers. In his last game, against Toronto, Mo finished with 13 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds and went 3-5 from 3-point territory. I would definitely add Mo Williams and ride this streak.
Vitor Faverani - Boston Celtics
Another guy I touched on in my previous article, Faverani has been up-and-down all season long. He's been in and out of the starting lineup and was inserted back into the starting lineup in the Celtics latest game on Saturday. Judging by his performance, Brad Stevens could opt to keep Faverani in the starting rotation for the forseeable future. Faverani finished the game with 9 points, 14 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals and 4 blocks. And wait for it.....he added two 3-pointers to his line as well. That was Faverani's third straight game with at least one 3-pointer made. I like Faverani and you should too. Pick him up, folks.
Vince Carter - Dallas Mavericks
Carter is riding a four game hot streak where has made 10 3-pointers in that span. In those four games, Carter is also averaging, 15.5 points, 2 assists and 3 rebounds. He's not the Vince of old but he's putting up numbers worthy of a look in deeper leagues.
Richard Jefferson - Utah Jazz
Richard Jefferson has come to life in Utah's past three games. It started with a 22 point performance against New Orleans where he also added 4 assists, 3 rebounds and went 3-4 from beyond the arc. He followed that up with 14 points, 1 assist, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and went 3-5 from 3-point land. On Saturday, Jefferson finished with 12 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 block and 2-5 from 3-point territory. If you have the space, ride the Jefferson heat wave while it lasts.
Harrison Barnes - Golden State Warriors
It seems like he is now fully healed from his toe injury that kept him out to begin the season and he played a season high 29 minutes against the Jazz on Saturday. His past two games have been promising. Thursday against the Thunder, Barnes scored a season-high 16 points, added 1 assist, 3 rebounds, 1 steal and went 1-3 from 3-point land. Against the Jazz, Barnes went for 11 points, 2 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and went 1-1 from beyond the arc. We should see more and more of Barnes now that he won't be limited due to his injury.
That does it for now. Let us know if there is anybody you think we missed in the comments.
