I continue with my review of the Fake Teams 2013 Consensus Position Rankings by looking at our fantasy starting pitcher rankings from last November-December timeframe. Below are links to the positions that have been reviewed to date:
Looking back at our starting pitcher rankings, I think we did a good job, but like most other rankings out there, there are some misses, namely Brett Anderson, Brandon Morrow, Ian Kennedy, among others. Then there are others who we ranked too low. Hi Matt Harvey, Mike Minor and Anibal Sanchez.
Here is a look at our 2013 Consensus Starter Pitchers ranked 26 - 50.

Three Up
Matt Harvey, NYM
Harvey was probably the best starting pitcher in baseball before he was shut down with the bad elbow. He won just 9 of his 26 starts, but with a 2.27 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and an elite 191-31 strikeout to walk rate in 178.1 innings. He will have Tommy John surgery this week, I think, and will miss the 2014 season. He will come cheaply in auction keeper leagues this season.
Mike Minor, ATL
Minor had a great sophomore season with the Braves, going 13-9 in 32 starts, with a 3.21 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and an elite 181-46 strikeout to walk rate in 204.2 innings this season. He is a top 20 starter for me in 2014.
Anibal Sanchez, DET
Sanchez was the third best starting pitcher in baseball according to fWAR, winning 14 games with a career best 2.57 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a 202-54 strikeout to walk rate in 182 innings of work. He was ranked as our 40th ranked starting pitcher in 2013, and he will move up into the top 20 or 25 in 2014. He kept the ball in the park and increased his strikeout rate from a respectable 7.68 K/9 to 9.99 K/9.
Three Down
Brett Anderson, OAK
This guy can't stay healthy and couldn't get guys out when he was healthy in 2013. Will he bounce back in 2014? He has the talent, but has to show he can stay healthy next season. He is a late round pick in AL only leagues and waiver wire fodder in mixed leagues in 2014.
Brandon Morrow, TOR
I never understood the love that many showed for Morrow last offseason, and he made just 10 starts this season due to a forearm injury. He went 2-3 with an ERA just under 7.00, giving up almost 15 base runners every nine innings, and has seen his strikeout rate plummet to under 7 K/9 this season.
Josh Johnson, TOR
Johnson was another big disappointment for fantasy owners this season, and, frankly, I wouldn't draft him unless it was an AL only league, and I needed a starter in the later rounds of drafts. Just won't do it. He went 2-8 in 16 starts with the Blue Jays this season with an ERA north of 6.00, but at least his peripheral stats were fine, as he struck out nine batters per nine innings and walked just over three batters per nine.
