I was having an email conversation with a friend a few days ago, when he made the statement that Anibal Sanchez probably wishes he was back in the National League after the way he has pitched since his trade to the Tigers. I responded saying he wasn't pitching well even before he was traded, as I owned him in one of my NL-only leagues. The response I received back was something to the affect that the AL has better hitters than the NL. Well, the AL does have the designated hitter, so that helps his argument, but I turned this into a Top 5 fantasy player discussion. I asked my friend to name the top 5 fantasy players right now. His response:
Miguel Cabrera
Joey Votto
Mike Trout
Andrew McCutchen
Ryan Braun
I don't disagree with any of the names he listed, but one name is missing-Matt Kemp.
Anyway, that lead me to thinking about who my Top 12 fantasy players are for 2013. So, here is my early look at who the Top 12 fantasy players will be on draft day 2013.
1. Mike Trout, LAA
2. Matt Kemp, LAD
3. Ryan Braun, MIL
4. Miguel Cabrera, DET
5. Andrew McCutchen, PIT
6. Joey Votto, CIN
7. Robinson Cano, NYY
8. Troy Tulowitzki, COL
9. Josh Hamilton, TEX
10. Carlos Gonzalez, COL
11. David Wright, NYM
12. Justin Verlander
Some guys just missing the cut are: Albert Pujols, Giancarlo Stanton, Clayton Kershaw, Buster Posey, Evan Longoria, and Jose Bautista.
So, let me hear your thoughts on my early Top 12 for 2013. Did I miss anyone? Did I rank someone too high? Let's hear your thoughts in the comments section.
