Closer Report

Cooking with gas all the way to KC.
Cooking with gas all the way to KC.
    • The previously trashed, by me, Carlos Marmol has gotten 4 consecutive saves in a row. I'll wait for everyone to sit down from the standing ovation that he most likely isn't getting.
    • Rafael Soriano keeps pacing the save opportunity and save leaders for the last month, with 12 and 11 respectively. For fantasy purposes you want a winning situation and a guy that is getting stats, and he is filling both of my standards to a tee. He is ranked second on my list because of everything I have said previously.
    • The K machine that is Kenley Jansen hasn't recorded a save in over a week, and that isn't completely his fault. He only has 6 in the last calender month. By comparison there are 16 other closers that have more in that same time span. He won't drop far because he K's too much to not like, this is more just an FYI.
    • In a strange but true stat, Ryan Cook has only allowed 12 hits and 34 baserunners in 35 innings this year. Pretty good for most likely a waiver wire add, who is having a phenomenal year and a well deserved all-star appearance.
  • Every week I take a look at the going's on in the life of relief pitching in fake baseball. This week, like the ever growing trend of this year to date the relief pitching corps are in constant in flux. So have a gander at how I would rank the best conclusionary pitchers and the guys that set them up.
