Father's Day brought more of the same for fantasy owners, as pitchers dominated the action. Of the 15 games played on Sunday, 15 of the 30 teams scored 2 runs or less, with 4 shutouts and three games ending in a 2-1 score.

Yankees starter Ivan Nova silenced the Nationals bats on Sunday, limiting them to just one run on 7 hits, a walk and 4 strikeouts in 7.2 innings to win his 9th game of the season. He is 9-2 with a 4.32 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and a 73-23 strikeout to walk ratio in 85.1 innings. Over his last 3 starts, covering 22.2 innings, he has given up just 2 runs on 16 hits, 3 walks and 15 strikeouts. The ground ball pitcher has induced 33 ground ball outs over his last 3 starts.

I am starting to think that Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman is still hurt. Zimmerman went 0-4 and saw just 7 pitches in his 4 at bats yesterday. He is now hitting .229-.300-.323 with 3 HRs, 26 runs and 22 RBI in his 201 at bats, and has just 13 extra base hits on the season. Over his last 10 games, he is just 9-44 with a HR and 3 RBI. At some point, manager Davey Johnson will have to sit him to clear his head of move him down in the lineup for a few games.

Pirates third baseman Pedro Alvarez likes hitting in Cleveland. Alvarez went 3-4 with 2 HRs and 6 RBI yesterday, a day after hitting 2 home runs on Saturday night. He is now hitting .207-.271-.451 with 12 HRs, 34 RBI, 25 runs and a 67-18 strikeout to walk ratio in his 193 at bats. He is owned in just 6.2% of ESPN leagues, and I have a feeling that will rise next week.

Is Blue Jays outfielder Colby Rasmus starting to put things together at the plate? He went 3-4 with a HR, double, 2 runs and 3 RBI yesterday, and is hitting .255-.312-.464 with 10 HRs, 31 runs, 33 RBI and 3 stolen bases. He could stand to walk a bit more, as he has walked just 18 times in 65 games thus far. He is on pace for a 25 HR and 81 RBI season. The Blue Jays have Anthony Gose in AAA currently, and he is getting close to being ready for a promotion to the big league club, and could be promoted should the Blue Jays fall out of the wild card race. Rasmus could easily move to left field when Gose gets the call.

You would include Dodgers starter Chris Capuano in any conversations for best starters in baseball, but he has been the best starter on the Dodgers this season. Capuano limited the White Sox to just one run in 8 dominating innings on Sunday, giving up 6 hits, a walk and striking out 12. He didn't factor in the decision, but he is 8-2 with a 2.71 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and a 80-31 strikeout to walk ratio in 86.1 innings. He has given up 2 runs or less in 9 of his 14 starts this season and is on pace to strike out 193 batters this season.

The Giants are standing behind starter Tim Lincecum and keeping him in their rotation to see if he can cure what ails him. Lincecum struggled again on Saturday night, giving up 5 runs on 5 hits, 2 walks, 6 strikeouts and 2 HRs in just 5 innings. He has given up 4 runs or more in 10 of his 14 starts this season and has pitched just 77 innings in those 14 starts. His strand rate is an absurd 60.5% thus far, so some regression is expected. I was asked by a reader on Twitter if I would drop Lincecum for Pirates starter A.J. Burnett right now, and I responded yes. Lincecum might be droppable right now, as the Giants have discussed sending him to AAA or moving him to the bullpen.

Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday left Sunday's game with a persistent leg condition, that apparently has been bother him for about a month. He will probably miss a few games to see if the condition goes away. Hopefully he doesn't require a DL stint. Holliday went 2-3 with a home run, and is now hitting .282-.365-.484 with 12 HRs, 42 runs and 41 RBI this season.

Tigers starter Max Scherzer is one of the more inconsistent starters in baseball, capable of ruining your ERA and WHIP in a few starts, but he has talent, and that talent was on display on Sunday. He shutout the Rockies on 7 hits, no walks and 12 strikeouts in 8 innings. He is now 6-4 with a 5.17 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and a 100-29 strikeout to walk ratio in 78.1 innings, so he does have value in leagues where strikeouts are a category, but he is tough to roster in 4 x 4 leagues.

Rays starter Alex Cobb dominated the struggling Marlins yesterday, giving up just 2 hits, walking one, and striking out 10 while throwing 7 shutout innings. In addition to the 10 strikeouts, he induced 18 swinging strikes and 9 ground ball outs to win his 3rd game of the season. He is now 3-3 on the season with a 3.82 ERA, a 1.17 WHIP, and a 32-12 strikeout to walk ratio in 37.2 innings this season. The Rays certainly know how to develop starting pitchers, don't they?
