Every week I give pick-up suggestions for leagues that are of the deeper variety. These suggestions aren't for everyone because that would just be dumb. These leagues are usually scraping the waiver wire just looking for the week's useful guy or an injury replacement for a few days or even weeks. So turn your attention to the few suggestions I have this week.

Cody Ransom 3B ARI - What do you get when you have a tattooed starting 3B that is completely struggling. You get Cody Ransom, he is a re-treaded retread. Over his last 7 games where he has received regular at bats for Ryan Roberts, he has batted .308/2 Hr's and 7 RBI's. Now by no means is he a permanent fixture in the D-Backs offense scheme but for the moment he is getting at bats.

Brad Eldred 1B/DH/OF DET - Andy Dirks is hurt, Delmon is yelling at people in public. For the next few days, I will say 5, he will be in the line-up pratically everyday, getting regular at-bats. His numbers in AAA look like playstation numbers. I always go back to the adage, if he sucks you drop him for a streaming pitcher.

A few more goodies after the jump.

J.A. Happ SP HOU - 31 K's in 29 innings for anyone is dealing. Now while he may not be a super effective pitcher controlling his WHIP and such, he has been getting K's and giving QS. He gets 2 starts next week against Miami and @ PIT, those are 2 really bad offenses.

David Phelps SP NYY - Good offense teams are a streamers delight. Kid has been super effective out of the 'pen so far this year. He takes over for Freddy Garcia in the Yankee rotation, now this move is probably only for 2 starts as Andy Pettitte is almost ready, so this is a streamer grab but could be an effective one. He gets KC tomorrow and if all goes well a start versus TB or Sea next week.

James Russell RP Cubs - Quick name me a reliable reliever in the pit of despair know as Wrigley field. It's a trick question you can't. Marmol is like watching grass grow. Dolis is a mini-marmol. Wood is injured. Insert Russell, only lefty in the Cubs bullpen and hasn't allowed a run to date, granted it's only 8 innings. We love to speculate about who is going to handcuff who, so that's me specualting.
