Jason Hunt and I participated in the annual BBA Blogzkrieg Experts league auction draft back in mid-March. The league is an 11 team, $300 mixed league auction with 30 man rosters. Jason and I had a late start in the draft, as it started around St. Patricks Day and the start of the NCAA Basketball tournament, so we didn't focus on the players being drafted for the first 2-3 days of the slow-auction draft, but I think we still drafted a solid roster. Here is the team we drafted along with the auction prices:

C $1 Carlos Ruiz C-PHI
C $3 Geovany Soto C-CHC
1B $7 Lance Berkman 1B/OF-STL
2B $8 Jemile Weeks 2B-OAK

More on the draft after the jump:

One guy Jason and I both wanted was Matt Kemp and we got him for $44, which right now looks like a steal. Still early yet. I have to say I really like this team, but then again, it is an 11 team league, so the other rosters probably look pretty good as well.

I was very happy in getting the starters that we did, as all of the ace starters were taken when we started bidding on Zack Greinke, and I forget who we got into a bidding war with, but it went on for at least a day, thus the reason why he went for $28. Winning the bids on Matt Cain ($16), Dan Haren ($15), Daniel Hudson ($12) and Hiroki Kuroda ($3) solidified our rotation, but add in Brandon McCarthy at ($11) and Trevor Bauer at a dollar gives us enough depth should one of our starters goes down.

We have just two closers at the moment, but I feel good about Andrew Cashner taking the closer job in San Diego once Huston Street gets dealt.

Our catchers and middle infield is week, but I loved the prices we got on Kendrys Morales and Lance Berkman, as I think Morales can put together a solid season in 2012, as his slow start was expected after being out for almost two years.

I love our outfield, as it is the strength of our team, along with our starters. As of Sunday morning, Fake Teams is in first place in the BBA Blogzkrieg league with 72.5 points, 5 points ahead of Tim McLeod from RotoRob, and 9.5 points ahead of Eric Stashin from Rotoprofessor. Still early.
