Spring Training Pictorial: Dodgers vs Rangers

Andre Ethier is a social butterfly and doesn't care if you know it

Welcome back to day 2 of my Spring Training pictorial series. This time the Dodgers continued to face teams that share their colors, confusing almost everybody, notably the guy behind me in the stands who confused Greg Reynolds for Clayton Kershaw (an honest mistake really, WTF????). Highlights: Andre Ethier knows EVERYONE, Ned Colletti accomplishes a task of minute competence, Juan Uribe gets to second base (settle down), Dee Gordon doesn't need your pathetic ground to walk on, and the Dodgers pull out (stay settled) a win. Lots of photos post-jump (less than yesterday though!)...

They finally gave Ned a job he could do competently (Colletti, disgruntled looking lady)

MLB Network was at the park today, and I'm 90% sure Kemp shaved to look good for them

06-dsc_0135_medium

Andre Ethier high fived a LOT of people today. A lot.

07-dsc_0139_medium

Your standard James Loney pre-game shot. He would hit a 3-run tater in the game.

08-dsc_0039_medium

#3 is Delvis Morales. He is a rookie ball player with zero power. He has by far the most legible signature of anyone so far.

Davey Lopes is a very sassy man. Garvey and Russell were not around, in case you were wondering.

Matt Kemp, Kevin Millar and Chris Rose

14-dsc_0216_medium

More high fives for Ethier. Yes, Millar IS still popular amongst the players.

15-dsc_0217_medium

The love continues. Don't worry, it didn't get weird.

There's a lot happening here. (Kemp, Ethier, Justin Sellers)

18-dsc_0243_medium

I wasn't kidding. A LOT of high fives. I mean...who is that other guy that he deserves a high five anyway? (Ethier, Cruz)

19-dsc_0249_medium

ANDRE WATCH OUT FOR THAT PEN!!!

20-dsc_0256_medium

Ted Lilly is 36 going on 72. I think he would fit in right next to Jack Lemon.

21-dsc_0270_medium

Ted used his AARP card and received a 10% wider strikezone. He did actually pitch pretty well.

There are a STUNNING amount of team-related hawaiian shirts out there. Like...too many.

...Was Dee safe or out? The answer at the end! (Solarte, Gordon)

28-dsc_0340_medium

Pfff!...you suckers need to use the GROUND to run???

29-dsc_0366_medium

Rangers prospect Yangervis Solarte. Honestly, that's his name. I wouldn't lie to you.

30-dsc_0383_medium

Gordon goes around the horn...

32-dsc_0418_medium

Remember when Tanner Scheppers was going to be in the big leagues really quickly? Well, he still has 2 clean innings (2 Ks) today

33-dsc_0421_medium

"We whistle while we work..." (Federowicz)

34-dsc_0430_medium

Sorry for the odd angle, but I just knew you'd be dying to see some Kenley Jansen. He gave up 2 solo bombs in his inning of work.

35-dsc_0442_medium

Scott Elbert replaced Jansen and was considerably better. Elbert was surprisingly good last year and I expect good things this year as well.

Top Rangers prospect Leonys Martin fields a ball in centerfield

Tony Gwynn, Jr was NOWHERE near hitting this pitch. It's kind of embarrassing really.

Yoshinori Tateyama threw well as he continues his attempt to make the team (2 IP, 3K)

43-dsc_0642_medium

Leonys Martin pays tribute to Michael Jackson...or Julio Lugo

Sidenote: If he was up for a full season, Martin could lead the league in crotch grabs. He would DEFINITELY lead in amount of time holding crotch.

Rangers top prospect Mike Olt

46-dsc_0653_medium

If you've got a fever and the only thing that can cure it is more Mike Olt, you're in luck.

47-dsc_0012-001_medium

He did not get to bat in this game unfortunately

48-dsc_0548_medium

Fist pumps were in at this moment. By the time you read this? They'll be out. Fear not though, fads are cyclical.

49-dsc_0043-001_medium

This seems to sum up a Spring Training game.

Choose your own adventure answer: He was out.
