Fake Teams Hits the Fantasy Links

Here are your fantasy baseball links for August 8:

Slump or Dump: Jason Heyward | Roto Hardball

If your league counts OBP, Jason Heyward may retain some value, but even so I'd look to trade him or check the waiver wire for players who may be more productive going forward. Heyward has struggled for most of 2011, and at this point continued struggles seem more likely than a return to 2010 levels of production.

Washington Nationals' Stephen Strasburg K's 4 In First Rehab Start For Class-A Hagerstown | Federal Baseball

Strasburg received an ovation as he walked off the mound, having completed yet another step on the way back from Tommy John surgery. 1.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K's, 1 HR, 31 pitches 25 strikes. Strasburg's back.

Read the whole article for the full impact.  As long as there are no setbacks, it looks like he will pitch this year, and he will again be effective.  If you have a DL, Stephen Strasburg needs to be stashed on it.  If not, you might want to think about going ahead and using up a bench spot.

Fluke Watch Ian Kennedy | The Hardball Times

His walk rate improvement is easily explainable, and if he can keep up this accuracy—which seems quite probable—then he can sustain it. You should not feel like Ian Kennedy is a heavy danger to regress too much.

Who is Jesus Guzman? | FanGraphs Fantasy Baseball

In ESPN leagues, Guzman could be a legitimate contributor to teams still fighting for the playoffs. His availability at the shortstop position really makes a huge difference. If you play in an ESPN league — and don’t own Troy Tulowitzki — Guzman a must add.

Updated Catcher Rankings -- August 2011 | FanGraphs Fantasy Baseball

2011 Holds Rankings: August | FanGraphs Fantasy Baseball
Personally, I'd put Clippard, Adams, and Venters in their own tier.

Injury Report: August 8: Jose Reyes, Alex Rodriguez, Carlos Beltran & More | Rotoprofessor

Prospect of the Day: Addison Reed, RHP, Chicago White Sox | Minor League Ball

All told, this year Reed has pitched 63 innings at four levels, with a 94/11 K/BB ratio and 36 hits allowed leading to a 1.29 ERA. Add in what he did in the Pioneer League last year, and in 93 professional innings he has a 1.46 ERA with a 138/17 K/BB ratio and a mere 53 hits allowed.

Fantasy Baseball Player Prospecting: Brett Lawrie, Johnny Giavotella, Nathan Eovaldi |
Brett Lawrie finally arrives in the bigs, but don't ignore these two other call-ups, especially in single-universe leagues.

Minor Accomplishments, Week 19 | Razzball
Jackson, Delgado, Moore, Wheeler, Rizzo, Teheran, Perez, Giavotella, Stewart, Alvarez
