Minor League Monitor - AA Southern League

Adam Eaton  - Diamondbacks  CF  DOB: 12/06/88

Eaton is hitting as well, if not better, than he did in High-A. In 18 games he is batting .329 with 7 extra base hits including 3 home runs. His BB/K remains strong at 9/15 but he is 3/3 in the SB/CS departments.

Neftali Soto - Reds  1B  DOB: 02/28/89

Soto has plus power and doesn't strike out as often as most players his age at AA. Both of these factors point to Soto being a potential 30 HR hitter who could provide a little something in the AVG department.

Paul Goldschmidt - Diamondbacks  1B  DOB: 09/10/87

In the first 17 games of July Goldschmidt is hitting .222 but has a home run tonight. His season line before tonight was .299/.421/.610 with 27 HR, 86 RBI, 70/86 BB/K. Goldschmidt has dealt with doubters his entire career and this recent cold streak has brought them out again. Don't be worried, though, he has a .222 ISO in July and has yet to finish a season with a SLG% below .600

Yasmani Grandal  - Reds  C  DOB: 11/08/88

Grandal may be on the trading block so the Reds would like to see more production out of their second top catching prospect. In his last 10 games he is hitting .176 with 2 doubles and 12 strikeouts. He is hitting .285 for the year and has 11 HR, 51 RBI, 46 walks and 76 strikeouts.

Jarrod Parker - Diamondbacks  SP  DOB: 11/24/88

Parker keeps getting stronger as he gets further away from surgery. In his past 4 games he has a 1.35 ERA and over his last 10 games his ERA is 2.25. He is also striking out more batter with 48 in his last 48 innings. This recent hot streak keeps the door open for a chance we might see Parker in the majors this year.

Vincent Catricala - Mariners  3B/1B  DOB: 10/31/88

Catricala has made a seamless transition to AA and his success there could lead to him being in top 100 prospect territory. He has looks like he may have a floor as something like a .280-15 HR type with a ceiling of much more. He should hit above .300 at some point in his MLB career and his ultimate fantasy value will lay in how much power he provides. He has bumped his ISO up to .260 in AA so he is certainly doing well so far.

James Paxton - Mariners  SP  DOB: 11/06/88

In Paxton's second AA start he struck out 11 in 5 innings. In 69.2 innings this year between 2 levels he has a 2.71 ERA with 95 strikeouts. Paxton and fellow Mariners prospect Taijuan Walker have top 10 prospect potential and in a few years time could join Felix and Michael Pineda to form one of baseball's best rotations. It's been gloomy around Seattle lately but there is hope on the horizon.

Nate Eovaldi - Dodgers  SP  DOB: 02/13/90

Eovaldi has been consistent this season and it shows in the numbers. His 2.61 ERA is 3rd in the league and his 94 Ks rank 5th. He will need to work out some command issues before reaching The Bigs but he is rounding nicely into form.
