Minor League Monitor - AAA Pacific Coast League

James Darnell - Padres 3B DOB: 01/19/87

Darnell has hit very well since coming to the PCL. In 8 games he has 4 home runs and a .273 AVG. He is playing the majority of his games in left field in an attempt to get him in San Diego quicker. This hurts his fantasy value but he still has the stick to be a threat in the outfield. However, this downgrades him from a potential fantasy star to just another outfielder with a good bat.

Brandon Belt - Giants 1B/LF DOB: 04/20/88

Belt has been very good in AAA this year, going .333/.469/.565. In his past 10 games he has gone .324/.477/.706 with 3 home runs and 10 walks. The Giants offense could use a kick and Belt is the best option on the farm. He will be up in the second half and it could be as soon as the next week or two.

Mike Montgomery - Royals SP DOB: 07/01/89

Montgomery's control may be coming back. In his past 4 starts he hasn't issued a walk in 3 of them. However, one of those starts lasted only 3 innings and he allowed 10 hits and 4 home runs. His ERA is a 5.14 and he has been one of the most disappointing top prospects this year.

Clint Robinson - Royals 1B DOB: 02/16/85

Robinson is blocked by Billy Butler and Eric Hosmer, otherwise he might already be in the majors. He is hitting .325 with 18 HR and 41/59 BB/K. This is the second straight year he has flat out mashed in the minors. The Royals are getting close to competing and they may be wise to trade Robinson for a piece they will actually use.

DJ Lemahieu – Cubs 2B DOB: 07/13/88

Lemahieu could hit .300 in the majors. Unfortunately that's all he will bring to the table in fantasy. In 88 games between the minors and majors he is batting .339 with only 2 HR and is just 6 of 10 on the bases.

Eric Young Jr. - Rockies CF/2B DOB: 05/25/85

Young's minor league numbers have been outstanding but he has yet to put it all together on the biggest stage. He is hitting .362 in AAA with 17/1 SB/CS and 39/32 BB/K. If he is ever able to stay in the Rockies starting lineup he will provide a good AVG and plenty of SB. His defense at second is pretty weak but if he can stay there he would have potential to be a top 10 at the position.

Leonys MartinRangers CF DOB: 03/08/88

Martin is having a heck of a pro debut. After starting in the Arizona Summer LEague he has already reached AAA. In 5 games at AAA he is batting .400 and his season line is .347/.423/.551. He is 11/9 on the bases so there is still work to be done there before he can be considered a 5 category threat.

Taylor Green - Brewers 3B DOB: 11/02/86

The Brewers are set at third with Casey McGehee so Green is left without a real MLB opportunity. He has hit well in AAA this year, going .313/.390/.541 but will have to wait for an injury to McGehee before being given a shot. Two bad seasons at AA stalled his development and he may be destined for a career coming off the bench.
