MLB Draft 2011: Who Gets Picked After Gerrit Cole?

If published reports are accurate, the Pirates will select UCLA pitcher Gerrit Cole with the #1 pick in tonights First Year Player Draft, which will be aired on the MLB Network starting at 6pm.

Here is a rundown of some mock drafts from the prospect experts:

Minor League Ball-John Sickels

ESPN-Keith Law

Baseball Prospectus-Kevin Goldstein

Baseball America-Jim Callis

Some of these are subscription sites, but here are a few excerpts:

Baseball America:

2. MARINERS: Nothing official yet, but the story remains the same in Seattle. The Mariners want a bat, with Rendon the frontrunner but Florida high school shortstop Francisco Lindor and Starling also considerations.
Projected Pick: Anthony Rendon.

More excerpts after the jump:

Baseball Prospectus:

3. Arizona Diamondbacks: Danny Hultzen, LHP, Virginia. Nothing but college arms seemingly in the mix, and Hultzen has been the focus all year. If he's gone, Trevor Bauer looks like their second choice.

  • All over Hultzen
  • UCLA arms backup
  • Could come down to money
  • Willing to pay Bundy/Bubba-level cash?
  • Taylor Guerreri—up on everyone's board
  • Could be in position to take any pitcher they want
  • ESPN:

    Washington Nationals
Bubba Starling, OF, Gardner Edgerton HS (Kan.)

I'm told that if he gets here, he stops here.

Sorry for the weird formatting. I didn't have time to post more, and will miss the draft tonight as I am going to the Phils-Dodgers game.

Will post something later this evening.
