The Texas League appears to be emptying out a bit, as Juan Nicasio, Matt Lindblom, Javy Guerra, and Rubby de la Rosa were all called up to the Majors straight from AA in the past few weeks. But there are still a lot of top prospects still in the Texas League.
Mike Trout - Angels - OF - 19 (1st Round, 2009)
.305/.413/.512, 6 HR, 18 RBI, 13 SB
Despite cooling off a bit (.273/.429/.303 in the last 10 days), Trout's still having a very good season, and this is in spite of being the youngest player in the Texas League by a long shot. I agree with Jeremy that I think that he could see a September call up potentially.
Tim Wheeler - Rockies - OF - 23 (1st Round, 2009)
.337/.416/.643, 14 HR, 45 RBI, 9 SB
Wheeler has been showing a lot of the potential this season which made him a first round pick 2 seasons ago, as he has hit 2 home runs and slugged .605 in his last 10 games. The outfield in Colorado remains pretty clogged, but I could see Wheeler making it to AAA before the end of the season.
Casey Kelly - Padres - SP - 21 (1st Round, 2008)
4-1, 3.82 ERA, 11 starts, 61.1 IP, 46 K, 19 BB
Kelly had a rough outing in his last start (5 IP, 7 R, but only 2 earned), but overall has had some solid numbers. It's hard to remember sometimes that Kelly has only been pitching full-time since last season. It should be interesting to see how many innings he throws this year, as he only threw 95 all of last season.
Martin Perez - Rangers - SP - 20 (International Signee)
2-0, 2.01 ERA, 10 starts, 53.2 IP, 51 K, 25 BB
Perez is repeating AA again this year, but his numbers have looked better so far this year. He is still the youngest pitcher in the Texas League, and could see a callup to AAA before the end of the season.
7- Day Disabled List
Wil Myers - Myers has been on the DL since the 10th of May with a knee infection, and it doesn't appear that he should miss more than another week or so.
John Lamb - Lamb was placed on the DL after he left his May 19th start with elbow discomfort, but it is unclear when he will return.
