Orioles outfielder Nolan Reimold had a solid rookie season back in 2009, hitting .279-.365-.466 with 15 HRs, 45 RBIs and 8 SBs in 358 at bats, but struggled last year. In 2010, Reimold bounced between AAA and the big league club where he hit just .207-.282-.328 with 3 HRs and 14 RBIs in 116 at bats. In AAA this season, Reimold was hitting .237-.329-.410 with 6 HRs and 22 RBIs before his callup last week.
Well, Reimold is doing his best to make this callup permanent, especially after going 4-4 with 2 HRs and driving in 4 runs yesterday against the Royals. Reimold will have to bring down his high strikeout rate, around 31% in AAA, to stay with the Orioles, but he has always had a solid eye at the plate, as his career walk rate of 11% shows.
I am not sure how much playing time Reimold will get this year, but if he can keep hitting with power like he displayed yesterday, he will be seeing more and more at bats in the Orioles young lineup.
