The Braves placed Jason Heyward on the DL tonight with a sore shoulder. I wrote about him in my Sunday Morning Roster Noise post earlier today. I have a lot of concerns about Heyward going forward. He continually has these nagging injuries that have held him back from growing as a hitter. In the past year he has endured a thumb injury, groin injury and now a shoulder injury. Definitely frustrating for fantasy owners.
Joe Mather will take over for in right field for Heyward. Mather had a career night last night, going 4-6 with a HR and 4 RBIs.
The Phillies officially announced that they have activated Chase Utley from the DL and he will be in their starting linieup tomorrow night. Utley will more than likely take over the third spot in the Phillies lineup, and he has been missed of late. The Phillies were shutout at home against the Rangers today, and have not been hitting well in the last few weeks. I can't remember the last time the Phllies were shutout at home.
Didn't Phillies GM Ruben Amaro tell us recently that Utley wasn't close to returning from the DL?
