Josh Johnson to the DL

First time posting from my mobile.

The Marlins have placed ace Josh Johnson on the 15 day DL withj a shoulder injury. I ranked Johnson a bit lowerin the pre-season than some due to his injury history. Fantasy owners are hoping the shoulder injury is just a minor issue, but should have concerns going forward, as this is his second stint on the DL with a shoulder injury in the last 9 months.

Johnson was shut down last September with a shoulder injury, and one has to wonder if he will eventually need surgery. Johnson is currently 3-1 with a 1.64 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and a 56-20 K/BB rate in 60+ innings. His strand rate was an extremely high 82%, his K rate had dropped from 9.11 to 8.35, and his BB rate has increased slightly from 2.35 to 2.98 this year.

Johnson said his shoulder has been bother him since the beginning of the year, so caution should be taken by the Marlins, as well as fantasy owners. I have to think the Marlins will take their time bringing him back, but the fact that they are in the NL East race at this point may cause them to throw caution to the wind.

It is hard for fantasy owners to replace Johnson on their rosters, as he is one of the top 10-12 ptichers in baseball, and probably top 5-7 when healthy.
