Jacob Turner - Tigers P DOB: 05/21/91
Turner has reached the 6th inning in all but one of his seven starts this season. In 45.1 innings he has struck out 36 and walked 11.
Manny Banuelos - Yankees P DOB: 03/13/1991
The lack of pitching depth on the Yankees roster makes Banuelos a candidate to be called up this season. He is doing his part to make sure his name is called when a spot opens in the Yankees roster. Through 7 starts he has a 2.25 ERA. Betances is more likely to be promoted right now but Banuelos is making a case to be considered.
Eric Surkamp - Giants P DOB: 07/16/87
Surkamp leads the Eastern League with 56 strikeouts and his 1.88 ERA is 3rd among starting pitchers. In a league filled with top pitching prospects Surkamp is standing out.
Dellin Betances - Yankees P DOB: 03/23/88
Betances leads all Eastern League starting pitchers with a 0.76 ERA. He has struck out 24 in 23.1 innings. I won't be surprised if Betances earns a start with New York and is able to stay with the big team.
Derek Norris - Nationals C DOB: 02/14/89
Norris got off to a miserable start to the season but has turned it on of late. In his past 5 games he is 8-19 with 3 2B and a HR. He is cutting down on the strikeouts and appears to be back on track to be the Nationals catcher of the future.
Liam Hendriks - Twins P DOB: 02/10/89
Hendriks has been dominant at times this season even though he isn't posting the ridiculous ERA he did a year ago. I expect his 3.66 ERA to fall as the season continues. His 1.06 WHIP should produce an ERA much lower than what he has posted.
Brad Peacock - Nationals P DOB: 02/02/88
Peacock has seemingly turned a corner this year. He was a hittable pitcher who walked too many and didn't strike many out. Then lasst season he ramped up the Ks but still allowed too many hits and finished with a 4.50 ERA. In 2011 he has limited opponents to 6.4 H/9 and 1.5 BB/9 with 11.9 K/9.
Anthony Gose - Blue Jays CF DOB: 08/10/90
Gose is starting to hit. He is batting .382 in his past 10 games and has brought his AVG up to .268 for the season. He is 15/3 for SB/CS and walking nearly 10% of the time. If he can continue hitting for average while walking this much he will put his plus plus speed to work and could lead the minors in stolen bases this season.
